Historical background
Myachkovo is an airfield with a rich history. It was opened back in 1941 and had the status of a special purpose airfield. A flight detachment was based here, conducting research in the Antarctic and the Arctic.
Since 1965, this is an airport with a staff of almost four thousand people. Four flight detachments with different specializations are based here: aerial photography, oil and gas exploration, aviation work in many regions of the Soviet Union.
In 1993, the Myachkovo airfield was privatized and is under the management of Myachkovo Aviation Services OJSC. Aerial photography unit is located here, the staff is 137 people.
In 2004, the airfield changes its owner, and closes after an accident that happened this summer with a rare aircraft, which killed4 people, 3 houses destroyed in a nearby village. This accident was followed by the next, but with the participation of a modern aircraft.
After the events, work begins on the reconstruction of the airfield infrastructure. Over the years, while the Myachkovo airfield was closed for flights, race car drivers chose the place. To this day, a racing circuit is based here.
Since 2009, the airfield has been working again, actively developing.
Currently, it is the largest home base for private aviation, there are two air clubs. In addition to private jets, a flight detachment of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Condor training center, and the Chelavia civil aviation airline are based in Myachkovo.

How to get there
Getting here is easy. Only sixteen kilometers from the Moscow Ring Road along the Novoryazanskoe highway - and you are there. You need to turn off at the traffic lights half a kilometer after the traffic police post in Ostrovtsy, where there is a turn to Zhukovsky.
