Magnitogorsk, as you know, is the largest business and industrial center of the Urals and one of the cities of Russia, which is located at the junction of two largest continents - Europe and Asia. The date of foundation of the Magnitogorsk airport is considered to be August 15, 1930, since it was then that the Soviet pilot Pichugov S. G. the first flight was made on a foreign-made Junkers aircraft. The air enterprise was actively expanding, in 1932 an air terminal was already built. Regular flights were opened in 1933 on the route Sverdlovsk - Magnitogorsk.
In the 1950s, the rapid development of the airport began. In 1951, daily regular flights were opened on the route Magnitogorsk - Moscow, and in 1956 work began on the construction of a new airfieldcomplex.
In the 1960s, flights began to operate to Aktobe and Minvody, the Magnitogorsk Aviation Squadron was formed.
1970 was marked by the commissioning of a new terminal building. By 1975, the airfield was able to receive An-26 and An-24 aircraft, and since 1992 - Yak-42.
The first international flight was made in July 1994 in the direction from Magnitogorsk to Istanbul and back with refueling in Sochi. By 1999, the runway and terminal building had been reconstructed.
In the period from 2000 to 2012, Magnitogorsk Airport received permits to receive aircraft of domestic and foreign production.
Provided services, infrastructure
The airfield complex, thanks to modern navigation equipment, is able to receive aircraft in any weather conditions.
One of the services provided by the airport is transfer passenger transportation. If there is no direct direction the passenger needs, the employee of the transfer hall will help you choose a route with a transfer at the capital's airport.
Not far from the terminal building is the hotel complex "Orbita" with single and double rooms, where you can comfortably spend time before the flight.
Passengers with disabilities are assisted with all pre-flight formalities. Also in the terminal building there is a hall of increased comfort for 36 people. In addition, there is parking at the airport.

Magnitogorsk airport is equipped with an artificial runway, the surface of which is made of cement concrete. The total length of the runway is 3.25 km with a width of 45 m. The air hub is able to serve international flights of civil aircraft, since there is a border checkpoint in the station building.

Nordwind Airlines operates mainly seasonal international flights to Antalya (Turkey) and Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt), Aeroflot and UTair - domestic regular flights (Moscow airports Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo). Air carriers Pobeda and Yamal are engaged in seasonal passenger transportation to Sochi and Simferopol, respectively.
How to get there
From the city of Magnitogorsk to the airport you can get by public transport. Regularly 3-4 times a day, buses 104 (from the Askarovo stop) and 142 (from the railway station) depart from the city. There are also several taxi services in the city.
You can also get to the airport by private car. To do this, you must first get to the city center, and then continue along Zelenaya Street (the length of the route will be 18 km) or Dachnoye Highway (about 25 km).
