Numerous islands with picturesque shores, places for pilgrimage, beach holidays and excellent conditions for fishing - every year tens of thousands of travelers come to Lake Seliger. Wildlife lovers spend the night in tent camps, and for those who appreciate comfort and coziness, there are Ostashkov hotels. This small town captivates with its provinciality and measured way of life.
Away from the metropolis
Ostashkov is often called the capital of Seliger - from here you can take a boat to the main sights of the lake, admire the architecture of the 18-19th century, enjoy plenty of blueberries, smoked fish and mushrooms, or just take a break from the frantic pace of life.
Interestingly, the city is at the same distance from the two metropolitan areas. The journey by bus from St. Petersburg takes 7 hours, and the journey by train "Moscow-Ostashkov" will last 12 hours.
The ideal option for a trip would be a private car, because the mostinteresting places are scattered for tens of kilometers. Public transport here runs strictly on schedule - sometimes you can only get from one village to another by morning bus.
“Seliger”
For those who are accustomed to the luxury and service of hotels, we advise you to moderate your expectations. Ostashkov hotels do not belong to well-known international chains, but they can also provide travelers with everything necessary.
The five-story building in the city center certainly stands out from the rest of the buildings. Hotel "Seliger" (Ostashkov, Microdistrict 5) can accommodate up to 180 people at a time.
The rooms are rather modest, but they have the necessary furniture, a separate bathroom, a TV and a refrigerator. In addition to double and triple rooms, Seliger offers accommodation options for large groups. Rooms for twelve people are suitable for students, schoolchildren or pilgrims.
Opinion of guests
On the territory of the hotel there is a grocery store, a cafe and a tour desk. The walk from the station takes only 15 minutes, but the administration is always ready to provide a transfer or order a taxi.
Traveler reviews do not recommend staying at this hotel for more than one night. Almost the only advantage of staying is the location. In addition, there is paid parking nearby. Absolutely everything here reminds of the times of the USSR: from the old building and furniture to the level of service. According to the guests, the low prices are quite consistent with the atmosphere andlack of familiar comfort.
“Coastal”
Planning a trip to Seliger and Ostashkov? The Beregovaya Hotel promises travelers a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and an atmosphere of tranquility.
Within walking distance there is a convent, a sandy beach, shops, a local history museum and much more. The bus and train stations are only ten minutes away by car.
The Beregovaya Hotel received its first guests in 2014. Today, they offer comfortable rooms in a small two-story house, equipped with their own shower and toilet, LCD TV and a set of toiletries.
The guest house has free parking and a 24-hour front desk. A bar and a restaurant serving European cuisine are open for travelers. There is a sauna in a separate building.
Poison smell
Responsive staff, hearty breakfasts and cozy atmosphere - the guest house "Beregovaya" has a good rating among travelers. It successfully combines proximity to the main city attractions and Lake Seliger. There is a barbecue in the patio.
The impression of the rest, according to the guests, spoils the characteristic smell of hydrogen sulfide, which smells of water. Unfortunately, Ostashkov hotels are not able to influence the he alth of the city sewerage system. In addition, not all rooms have refrigerators, and internet is only available near the reception.
“Orlovskaya”
Perfect locationthe hotel “Orlovskaya” (Ostashkov, Orlovsky st., 1) differs. There are always a lot of tourists and pilgrims in the city, so some travelers especially appreciate privacy. "Orlovskaya" is located in a quiet corner of Ostashkov, on the border with the Klichen peninsula and its luxurious sandy beach. A ten-minute walk is the river station, from where you can go on the most exciting walks along Seliger.
Cozy rooms for two or three guests are available for booking. Hospitable owners offer catamarans, boats and boats for rent. A small sauna has been built on the shore, after which you can refresh yourself in the lake in summer, and in the ice hole in winter. At any time, travelers can fry their own barbecue, smoke fish and even cook fish soup.
Guests note the comfort and cleanliness of the hotel. In the cafe, located on the ground floor, the food is inexpensive and tasty. In the warm season, there are not enough air conditioners and mosquito nets on the windows.
The city of Ostashkov welcomes tourists all year round. Hotels set prices for accommodation depending on the season. From July to August, for example, the cost of accommodation on Orlovskaya Street increases to 500 rubles, which is quite acceptable even for budget travelers.
“Epos”
Ostashkov hotels are distinguished by a small number of rooms, modest furnishings and a minimal set of services. It can be difficult for guests from the metropolis to get used to the measured life in the provinces and the lack of customer focus on the part of the staff.
Creatingthe impression that the city is gradually falling into disrepair, so there are fewer and fewer “decent” establishments. One of the most popular places is the hotel "Epos" (Ostashkov, pr-t Leninsky, 136).
On the first floor there is a restaurant, and on the second and third there are rooms of three categories ("suite", "standard" and "junior suite"). Bath accessories, a TV and the possibility of installing an extra bed - everything you need for a stay is here.
Additional services:
- laundry;
- meeting room;
- Luggage storage;
- billiards;
- shoe and clothing repair;
- bike rental;
- organization of excursions;
- currency exchange;
- beauty salon.
As travelers note, breakfast is included in the price - you can choose one of four options. The restaurant is popular with the locals, but the live music can make it hard to sleep.
