History of the city
The Finnish word "jahr" means "lake", hence the name of the city. Initially, there was a settlement of Finno-Ugric tribes. The history of present-day Yakhroma dates back to 1841. At that time, already distant for us, there was a village at the cloth factory. Later, with the advent of manufactory, production began to expand. In 1901, the Yakhroma railway station was opened near the village. The period of 1932-1937 was marked by the construction of the Moscow-Volga Canal named after V. I. Stalin. In October 1940, Yakhroma received city status. At the very end of November 1941, the Germans came to Yakhroma, but the soldiers of the Red Army already liberated the city on November 7th. Yakhroma is the first city liberated from fascist invaders.

Temples
The first shrine built in the village of Peremilovo was the Church of the Ascension of the Lord. It was built in the 16th century in honor of the Archangel Michael. In the 40s, the temple was reconstructed and consecrated in honor of the Ascension of the Lord. When in 1972 the cathedral came into the possession of Stepan Apraksin, it was again reconstructed, and from a wooden one it turned into a stone one. The church was built in the classical style, with elements of the Gothic style. The church is located on Peremilovskaya street, 93.
On a hill in the very center of the city (Konyarova st.) there is another sight of Yakhroma - the Trinity Church. According to the architects' calculations, it was supposed to accommodate about 4 thousand people. Therefore, the cathedral impresses with its size. The temple was erected in 1982-1985 according to the project of S. K. Rodionov. On the opening day of the shrine, the villagers and factory workers were invited to a sumptuous dinner. In terms of artistic form, the building is close to the era of classicism.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the temple was closed, after which the property inside was plundered. The premises were later usedas a warehouse for food, furniture, even as a dining room. During the Great Patriotic War, there was a hospital here. In the late 1990s, the cathedral was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church. The temple is currently being reconstructed.
Monument to the Soviet soldier
The monument is located on the Peremilov height. This is the main attraction of the city of Yakhroma. In the place where the monument rises, during the Great Patriotic War there were decisive fierce battles for the city. The monument was built in 1966 - this is the largest project of its kind in the entire Moscow region. The height of the bronze sculpture is 13 meters. It depicts a soldier rushing to the attack. The sculpture itself stands on a pedestal, the height of which is 15 meters. At the foot is a tablet with the names of warrior-heroes and poems dedicated to them. The monument is located on an elevated platform with a picturesque view of the city.
Leisure park
Among the sights of Yakhroma, one can name the culture and recreation park of the same name. This sports and entertainment area of the Moscow region is one of the most popular places for a country holiday. The park is located in the Dmitrovsky district, which is famous for the beauty of its landscapes. Yakhroma has a modern infrastructure, hotel complexes and a chain of restaurants. The park organizes leisure activities for adults and children, there are exciting rides. The most popular is the "Crazy Toboggan" (analogous to the "Roller Coaster"). Gateway 3
This gateway is considered the most unusual and beautiful on the entire channel. A distinctive feature of this attraction of Yakhroma in the Moscow region are two turrets along the edges of the gateway, built in the 30s of the XX century. The towers are crowned with two Santa Maria caravels made of red copper. Once this ship belonged to the famous Christopher Columbus. During the Second World War, the towers were blown up, but at the end they were restored. Caravels are also depicted on the coat of arms of Yakhroma. Gateway No. 3 is the calling card of the city.
Ski resorts

The very center of the resort is crowned by a 225-meter mountain, and in the area there are 10 ski slopes of different difficulty levels. During the summer months, the resort opens its doors to golf, tennis, and basketball enthusiasts. Those who wish can ride ATVs or bicycles.
