Adler is the southernmost part of Greater Sochi. The resort occupies a vast territory, which is limited by the channels of the icy rivers Kudepsta and Psou. It stretched from the meadows of the full-flowing Mzymta to the very Russian-Abkhazian border.
The city owes its name to the word "artlar", which in translation from the local dialect means a pier. Indeed, where Adler is located, excellent conditions for mooring have been created.
Parking boats in the local waters is safe even in bad weather and removed at a decent distance from the fairway. The water depth is sufficient for ships to raid during heavy seas.
Coastline
That part of the Black Sea coast, where Adler is located, is represented mainly by pebble beaches. There are sandbars here and there.
The length of the coast is 17 kilometers. Equipped recreational areas are interspersed with concrete bolts and breakwaters.
Thanks to the Imereti Plain, which pushed back the stone foothills of the mountains from the Black Sea, the beach in this area is recognized as the widest on the entire Caucasian coast of Russia.
District center
Adler is the center of thedistrict. He has about ten settlements under his control.
From the place where Adler is located, to Central Sochi is about 30 km, to Khosta - 8. The journey from Moscow by rail takes a little more than a day. There is an international airport fifteen minutes away from the station.
Climatic conditions
They say that where Adler is located, Russian subtropics begin. And so it is! The resort is characterized by extremely high humidity. Its level often reaches 100%.
For three hundred days a year, clear and sunny days reign in these parts. There is practically no winter here. Relatively cold months are December and January.
In the vicinity of the mountains, where the city of Adler is located, there is almost never snow, which cannot be said about Krasnaya Polyana. Frosty winds dominate the ski slopes from December to mid-May.
