History of the creation of the protected area

This territory was formed back in 1929 and functioned as a military-huntingeconomy. Over the entire period of work, the reserve was reorganized many times. In 1992 it was transformed into the state complex "Zavidovo". At that time, the presidential residence and the national park belonged to the reserve. Now the whole territory is about 125 thousand hectares. This is ten times the original area. Mixed forests are widespread in this area, in which birch, spruce and pine mainly grow. There are about eight natural monuments and large reserves in the protected area.

Hunting grounds

The forests of the reserve have all the necessary conditions for residents and guests of the "Moscow Sea" complex to hunt. Large families of elks and wild boars live on the territory. The shores of the reservoir have become a natural habitat for various species of waterfowl. During the hunt, you can meet such animals as hares, foxes, moose, wild boars, roe deer, spotted deer, lynxes and even brown bears. In addition, badgers, wolves and otters can be found in this territory. Among the representatives of the avifauna, one can see gray partridges, capercaillie, black grouse and hazel grouse. Also, the reservoirs have become a breeding ground for mallards, red-headed pochards and teals.

A duck farm has been operating in the protected area for more than thirty years. This has a positive effect on the population of local mallards. By the opening of hunting seasons, birds settle in the vicinity of water bodies.
