History
All the settlements that make up the district were known at the beginning of the 16th century. Where Stupino is located, in 1578 there was a village in the Kashirsky district in the possession of the Belopesotsky monastery. In 1931, the site was chosen by the secretariat of the Communist Party for the construction of a factory for the creation of trains. The territory received the name of the working settlement Elektrovoz. A school, a hospital and a bakery grew up around the new enterprise. But it ceased to exist, and construction sites were used to establish new factories for the production of aircraft products.
In 1938, the village of Elektrovoz received the status of a city and was again named Stupino. In the Moscow region, after the Great Patriotic War, the territory belonging to the district expanded. It included nearby state farms, concrete and plastic factories were built.
Sights and infrastructure
The main attraction is the Trinity Belopesotsky Convent, founded in the 15th century. The cathedral includes the churches of St. Sergius of Radonezh, St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the Beheading of John the Baptist.
