Airport Incidents

During its long history, the airport has collected many stories, as well as memories of unusual situations.

There were significantly fewer negative situations, but all of them were remembered by airport employees for many years:

• In 1962, a large-scale accident occurred in Strigino. The Li-2 aircraft had an engine failure. At this time, he collided with ground transport. The crash killed 20 passengers. The whole country mourned the terrible loss.
• And in 2011, a Boeing flew over the runway on the route Hurghada - Nizhny Novgorod. Of the 147 passengers who were on board at the timeaircraft, all survived. They were evacuated in time.
• In October 2014, several situations arose at once. They followed each other and greatly spoiled the impeccable reputation that distinguishes the airport. Nizhny Novgorod became a victim of telephone terrorists. An unknown person dialed the administrator's number and reported a bomb. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations quickly evacuated all personnel and passengers from the building. Two flights were delayed due to danger to life. The next day, the Aeroflot aircraft suffered an engine failure and had to make an unscheduled landing. There were no casu alties.
