How to get there

It is located at the intersection of Peschanaya and Volchanskaya streets in Belgorod. The fare from the railway station or, for example, the stop "1000little things" will be insignificant. In addition, it is convenient to travel by car, as there are special convenient parking lots near the zoo. There are also bicycle parking facilities. In order to look at animals and birds, you need to walk through a mixed forest about 400-500 meters from the stele, which is located directly opposite the bus stop. Neatly tiled paths and trimmed lawns lead to the ticket office.

Zoo history

Previously, the Belgorod Zoo was just a small living corner, founded on August 5, 1988, and was located on the banks of the Vezelka River. In 1991 it became a separate legal institution, and since 2012 it has become an autonomous cultural institution. The transfer of the zoo to the Sosnovka tract began to be discussed since 2010, since the animals needed a large territory and free conditions. Active construction of new spacious enclosures began in 2014.

Now the Belgorod Zoo in Sosnovka covers an area of up to 50 hectares, on which there are 43 large enclosures for animals.

For convenience, the zoo in Belgorod is divided into the following zones:

All of them correspond to the natural habitats of animals. In addition, animals living in the territory of the Belgorod region are placed in a separate zone. Waterfowl are housed in a specially created artificial lake with a volume of 15,000 cubic meters.meters.

However, the construction of the exotarium has not yet been completed in the park, so the primates are planned to be transported no earlier than this autumn. The Belgorod Zoo will allow visitors to admire the tiger python, caiman, wolves, foxes, brown bear, tiger, Mexican spider and aga toad. Kangaroo, deer, camel also live on its territory. In total, the park has 400 animals of 83 species, including birds, reptiles and primates.

Fun for kids

Young visitors will be able to get to know the inhabitants of the zoo better by visiting the contact corner. The territory of the so-called "Grandma's hut" was specially created so that children could watch chickens, pet fluffy rabbits, hamsters, ponies, goats and sheep. Also, all of them can be fed, having previously bought a special food. It is sold in the park.

After getting to know the animals, children can have fun on the rides, ride a pony, horse or carriage for an additional fee, and take part in exciting workshops. It is completely free to play on special playgrounds with slides, ladders and swings.

It is worth noting that there are many picturesque places for photos in the zoo. A huge picnic area where you can not only relax, but also have a bite to eat. For the convenience of visitors, there is a cafe.

At the zoo there is a shop where you can buy Japanese dancing mice, pheasants, chickens,chinchillas, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, and pet food.

How much are entrance tickets, opening hours

Starting from January 2017, zoo ticket prices have increased. It was assumed that adults would have to pay 300 rubles per visit, and children - 100 rubles. However, the initially declared cost had to be reduced by almost three times, practically equaling it with the prices for entering the old zoo.

Total zoo ticket price:

  • For adults - 200 rubles.
  • Children from 5 to 15 years old - 50 rubles.
  • Children under 5 are free.
  • Families with many children (with three or more children) - free of charge.

Summer Schedule (April to October):

Monday to Sunday - from 10:00 to 20:00

In winter:

  • Wednesday-Sunday - from 10:00 to 18:00.
  • Monday-Tuesday - day off.

It is worth recalling that the opening of the zoo in Belgorod was timed to coincide with Children's Day. On this day, visitors were entertained by animators and entertainment events. During the entire existence of the zoo, the number of visits per year has increased from 105 thousand people to 150. Also, in 27 years, the collection of animals has almost tripled.
