Many Russian tourists, tired of holidays in Egypt or Turkey, sooner or later begin to focus on where to relax and what to see "at home". And believe me, if the quality of the beaches in our country, it must be admitted, is not always “excellent”, then there are plenty of places where you can enjoy the stunning beauty of Russia's nature. For this reason, spending a vacation without leaving your country is a completely reasonable, if not right, decision.
Do you want to see the truly unique picturesque paintings that nature itself has created? Go to the Agur waterfalls in Sochi! This is truly a paradise on earth, where thousands of tourists come, not only Russians, but also foreigners. It is located on the Black Sea coast - in the Khostinsky district of the capital of the "Olympic" games.
A bit of history
Back in 1911, the Agur Falls became a popular tourist destination. What caused this? Everything is very simple. At that time, one of the members of the mountain club simply cut a path in the rocks, which opened up access for all vacationers to such an amazing natural wonder as the Agur waterfall. Upon closer examination, even now you can see the traces of picks and pits left by the "pioneer".
Agur waterfall is a truly impressive sight. Here you can see everything: exotic plants, dizzying rocks, majestic canyons.
Beginning of the route
At the initial stage of the journey, tourists have a view of a gloomy pond of a small size, which is shrouded in high and sheer cliffs. This place is called "Devil's Bath". Here, in one of the rocks, you can see a slightly frightening opening of the Devil's Hole Cave.
Agoura River
Agura Falls is the brainchild of the Agura River, which is energetic and seething. Its source originates ten kilometers from the Black Sea, from the southern borders of the Alek mountain range.
One of the ancient legends says that once a beauty named Agura secretly brought water to her lover, who was chained to a rock. In the end, her secret was revealed, and the young diva was thrown into a canyon as punishment, where she, breaking on stones, turned into a winding mountain river.
It should be noted that the river exudes a hydrogen sulfide smell, which is why it was nicknamed the "rotten spring".
The river along the rapids and mountain paths very quickly rushes down to the sea coast, bypassing the bottom of the gorge, forms a whole series of picturesque water cascades. Believe me they areas amazing and beautiful as the famous waterfalls of the world, photos of which often adorn the covers of famous glossy magazines about nature.
It should be noted that the above creation of nature is a certain combination of three rapids, alternately replacing each other.
Lower
The most spectacular and unusual beauty is the lower waterfall. It is formed by two cascades - upper and lower.
The first one is 12 meters long and the bottom one is 18 meters long. In the place where they intersect, one can observe simply the most unique spectacle, when an incredible amount of splashes splashes out, shimmering with sunlight. At the bottom of the lower waterfall is a lake with crystal clear but cold water.
Medium
The middle waterfall is about half a kilometer higher than the lower one, its height is 23 meters. The water in it flows in a whole arsenal of jets into a five-meter pool. Here is such a picturesque Agursky waterfall. Where is this "wonder" of nature? The fact is that it is almost impossible to visually detect it, you need to specially go to it along a steep path.
Top
The third unique Agur waterfall is called the top one. The status of "noisy" and "roaring" is firmly entrenched behind it, since its waters fall from a height of 21 meters and are associated with a giant shower.
At the bottom of the waterfall there are stones and rapids are formed, so the water quickly moves from one ledge to another, forming a colorful cascade. Near the top waterfallthere are "Eagle" rocks, from which a magnificent panorama of the city surroundings and Mount Akhun opens.
The final stage of the excursion route is a visit to a small but very deep lake sparkling in the sun, which is framed by sheer cliffs.
When is the best time to go sightseeing?
Of course, Agur waterfalls are magnificent at any time of the year. However, they are full-flowing in winter, spring, and, of course, during the rainy season. When moisture is not supplied in sufficient quantities, the Agura River dries up, and the waterfalls lose their energy and strength.
Waterfalls of the world
Of course, the world's waterfalls can be considered the standard of natural beauty and grace, photos of which simply fascinate with their charm and grace. Surely, there will not be a single person who did not admire this unimaginably amazing spectacle, when rapidly rushing streams with a roar turn into millions of tiny particles of water, enriching all the surroundings with moisture. And how amazing and beautiful is the rainbow that often forms on hot days over the waterfalls of the world? So, which countries can you go to admire this miracle of nature?
Be sure to see Kilt Falls in Scotland. Its waters descend from the rocks directly into the Atlantic Ocean.
Experienced tourists recommend seeing Niagara Falls, located in the United States. He will conquer everyone with his ebullient and tireless energy.
Experts also advise to go to Argentina to admire the powerful flow of water on ourplanet - Iguazu Falls.
How to get there?
Tourists come to the Sochi water cascades to escape from the bustle of the city and unfavorable ecology. Everyone has long been convinced that only the Agur waterfalls can give a magnificent and unforgettable vacation. “How to get to these picturesque places?” - This is probably a question that plagues many. Nothing complicated.
