Moscow, Shchelkovskaya metro station. History

Shchelkovskaya station was opened for passengers back in 1963, on July 22, when the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line was extended to the north. Her name is not unique and is consonant with the name of the Shchelkovo highway, which is located not far from her. The name of the station has never changed throughout the entire time.

The Shchelkovskaya metro station was designed by the famous architect Taranov I. G. together with the equally famous architect (his wife) Bykova N. A., who have 9 joint projects of Moscow metro stations.

Appearance

In the station hall there are forty columns made of reinforced concrete, which are lined with green marble and white ceramic tiles. The floor is covered with gray granite tiles. Until 2002, the top walls of the station were tiled with yellow ceramic tiles and the bottom with black tiles.
