Once upon a time, on the spot where the Preobrazhenskoye metropolitan area is now, there was a village with the same name. It is famous for the fact that there, firstly, in 1672, in honor of the birth of the heir to the Romanov dynasty, Peter Alekseevich, a theater was founded - the very first in Russia, and secondly, the formation of Peter I as a military leader took place in this village., emperor, reformer and creator of the Russian fleet.

Much later, in the 1860s, Moscow grew, Preobrazhenskoye became its outskirts, however, with a developed industry. At first, cabs served her needs, then a horse tram, at the beginning of the 20th century a tram appeared on Preobrazhenka, and on the last day of 1965 a metro station was opened.

History and present

The "Red" metro line was the first not only in Moscow, but in the Soviet Union in general. It was opened to traffic on May 15, 1935. Four years later, for Leonid Utyosov, they composed the "Song of the old cabman", in which he sang:

Well, how is it onlydoes it work?

Everything in life is cunningly messed up:

To harness you, I'm heading in the morning

From Sokolniki to the Park by metro…

It was from the "Park Kultury" to "Sokolniki" that the Kirovsko-Frunzenskaya line stretched. In 1990, it began to be officially called Sokolnicheskaya. And for 30 years Sokolniki was the final station. Finally, on the eve of 1966, the 75th metro station "Preobrazhenskaya Ploshchad" was opened. On the map of Moscow, it is located in the north of the Sokolnicheskaya line under the square with the same name. Here is an old photo of "Preobrazhenskaya Square". This is how the ground station lobby looked then.

Metro "Preobrazhenskaya Ploshchad" remained the terminal station for almost 25 years, until on the same day - August 1, 1990 - they opened "Cherkizovskaya" and "Ulitsa Podbelskogo" (now "Rokossovsky Boulevard"). At the same time, in the early 90s, the possibility of renaming the station was discussed. They chose between the names "Preobrazhenskaya" or "Preobrazhenskoe", but as a result they left the former name.

Specifications

Preobrazhenskaya Ploshchad is an intermediate, non-stop station. From the center from Sokolniki to it, trains go along an open section, along the metro bridge over the Yauza, 330 meters long.

Typical project, designed by architect N. I. Demchinsky. Three flights: two track and one - "island" for waiting with a width of 10 meters. This type is the most comfortable for passengers in terms of noise level. The straight platform is separated from the trains by two lines of columns of 40 pieces each - it is this design that is called the "centipede". The distance between the square columns is 4 meters.

The metro station "Preobrazhenskaya Ploshchad" is shallow, its depth is only 8 m. That is why there are no escalators, only stairs. The vestibules are underground, the ground exits are glazed and transparent. There are two of them: north and south. Entrance through different lobbies is carried out at different times. The southern one is open from 6.30 am to 11.05 pm, the northern one is open longer: from 5.30 am to 1 am.

At the time when the station was the terminus, there was a cross ramp. Now it is dismantled due to lack of need. There is no track development now, since overtaking, formation and disbandment of trains, and repair of wagons are not expected on this section.

Decoration of Preobrazhenskaya Square

Initially, the track walls were covered with tiles, whichdecayed by 2009. Then, during the repair, the walls were covered with a white aluminum "lining". The letters of the station name were left the same as they were originally - metal. Down the wall, instead of black tiles, a strip of black marble was laid.

The floor of the “waiting island” is covered with slabs of light gray and stripes of red granite, the columns are surrounded by white marble and decorated with ornamental Ural serpentine (serpentinite).
