First of all, we note that today it would be somehow reckless to talk about the air gates of this city. The thing is that such a thing as “Chelyabinsk airports” has gone into the recent past of the times of the USSR. It was at that time that there were several of them at once, both of local importance and with international status.

Now there is only one airport in Chelyabinsk. True, he is in the top five in all of Russia. Why? There are plenty of prerequisites for conferring such an honorary status. The location of the airport is also very advantageous. It was built 18 km northeast of the capital of the Southern Urals. History of the airport

The history of this transport hub spans over 80 years. The first aircraft to land on the Chelyabinsk airstrips was a ship with tail number Yu-13, which was on the route from Sverdlovsk through Chelyabinsk with a final landing in Magnitogorsk. It happened almost 100 years ago in mid-March 1930.

After the commissioning of a new terminal building in 1974 and the emergence of the possibility to serve ships of various types in the summer of 1994, the Chelyabinsk airfield received the status of an international air complex.
