Name

Residents of Russia and the post-Soviet space, this route is familiar under the name E95. The new name of the E105 highway was received after the reform of the numbering of European roads. But shortly before that, the Alisa group's song "Route E95" was released, which instantly became a hit, and in the memory of most Russians, thanks to the composition, it is associated precisely with the old name.

Key Features

Route E105 originates in Norway, then passes through the Russian Federation to Ukraine, and then leads to the Crimean peninsula, thereby returning to Russia again.

E105 - a route that passes through three countries and crosses dozens of large cities and hundreds of small towns. The main points of this route in the direction from Norway to the Crimeaare: Kirkenes, Murmansk, Petrozavodsk, Petersburg, Veliky Novgorod, Tver, Solnechnegorsk, Moscow, Tula, Orel, Belgorod, Kharkov, Zaporozhye, Simferopol, Alushta, Y alta. The European route connected the largest cities and administrative centers on its way.

Coincidence of roads

The European classification and numbering of roads differs from the generally accepted on the territory of the Russian Federation, so the same section of the E105 highway can have another name familiar to Russians. There are several such coincidences. The road connecting Murmansk and St. Petersburg is called M18 or "Kola" in Russia. According to European numbering, this is E105.

Next is the route called P10, it starts from the Border Highway and leads to Pechengi. It is immediately followed by a section of the E105 highway between Pechenga and Murmansk, which bears the Russian name A118. And the already well-known former highway E95, and now M10, which goes from St. Petersburg to Moscow and back. The route, simply called "Crimea" or M2, runs from Moscow to the Ukrainian border. Then E105 goes further already through the territory of Ukraine. It completely coincides with the M20, leading transport flows from the border with the Russian Federation to Kharkov. Then E105 partially coincides with the roads M18, M03, E40. This stretch of road connects Kharkiv and Y alta.

High Speed Sections

E105 - a route that crosses three states, merges with many other routes and roads on its way, passes through hundreds of small towns, dozens of large cities andsome historical monuments. Despite all this, there are three high-speed sections on the highway.

  1. St. Petersburg. On the ring road around St. Petersburg, vehicles are allowed to reach speeds of up to 110 km per hour. This is an undoubted advantage of this route, the condition of the road allows you to travel at such a speed, but, unfortunately, the Ring Road is often overloaded with traffic. And so there are frequent cases of congestion.
  2. Tula region. This is a toll expressway, but travel on it at the present time costs mere pennies - some 60 rubles. This highway starts immediately after the exit from the Moscow Ring Road and ends at the border of the Tula and Oryol regions. The road completely passes through the Tula region and allows you to avoid entering the territory of Klimovsk, Chekhov, Serpukhov. An undeniable advantage is not only in speed, but also in the quality of coverage. The toll highway will help to avoid the inconvenience of driving along the old highway, which runs a little to the side, which is called by the common people - "the old Crimean highway".
  3. Kharkov - Novomoskovsk. The motorway starts at the intersection of two highways E40 and M03. It is located 9.5 km from the Kharkov ring road. And it ends not in Novomoskovsk itself, but on its bypass road. Thus leaving the city out of the way. This new route also leaves aside other Ukrainian cities: Merefa, Krasnograd, Pereshchepino. According to rough calculations of engineers, this highway saves about two hours of travel. This part of the route was openrelatively recently, in 2008, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko. The high-speed section was built in accordance with all European standards and is now in a satisfactory condition. Previously, it was planned to extend it all the way to Simferopol, but today these intentions have remained at the development stage.

Dangerous areas

The most dangerous and congested sections of the route are:

  • Part of the road from St. Petersburg to the capital. There are constant traffic jams that can delay motorists for more than one hour, especially in the summer.
  • MKAD. Here, traffic jams are a constant and firmly rooted phenomenon. The Moscow MKAD is known to everyone and everything for its congestion with traffic flows.
  • Turn to Kirilovka (Ukraine). From Melitopol, the route crosses a road of territorial significance leading to the popular resort village of Kirilovka, which attracts a lot of attention from vacationers in the summer.

There are places and sections of the road that have a large number of potholes and pits, but they do not reach a critical level of danger. Representatives of all the countries on whose territory it passes are trying to maintain the track in a condition suitable for comfortable driving.

Gas stations

On the E105 highway, refueling, of course, as well as on any other highway, is not uncommon. Today, hardly any driver has a problem of lack of fuel. gas stationswaiting for their customers literally on every corner. Of the Russian gas stations on the highway, there are most representatives of such large companies as Lukoil, Neftmagistral, Gazpromneft, Tatneft, Rosneft, and Surgutneftegaz. And dozens more that are not so popular and known to both Russian residents and foreign guests.
