The capital of Denmark - Copenhagen - the airport has an impressive. It is considered the largest in the entire Scandinavian Peninsula. And in Europe, Kastrup (Kastrup) - this is how the Copenhagen air terminal is officially called - occupies the honorable seventeenth position. The popularity of these air gates is growing from year to year. From here, sixty-three airlines send their aircraft to one hundred and eleven destinations around the world. In 2012, Kastrup passed over twenty-three million passengers. And now every day the airport serves about sixty thousand people. How not to get lost in this influx of passengers? How to get to the city center? Where to sleep nearby? Let's look at these questions.

Kastrup's story

This is another of the oldest airports in Europe. It was erected in 1925. Fifteen years later, a small building called the "Wooden Castle" turned into a museum, and in its place was built a terminal designed by Wilhelm Lauritzen. After that, Kastrup received a new name - "Copenhagen Airport". However, this building was alsoreconstructed in the late 60s of the last century. Now the airport of the capital of Denmark has three terminals, a fourth is being built - specifically for servicing low-cost airlines. All these buildings are located on the island of Amager, in the municipality of Thornby. But the airport is not far from the center of the capital of Denmark. It is only eight kilometers southeast of the city.

Kastrup infrastructure

Now "Copenhagen" (airport) has become a small town. It has three main terminals, and another one is about to open. The first one, the oldest one, is adapted for accepting domestic flights. Terminal 1, or "seven little houses" as it is also called (according to the number of adjacent pavilions), serves the campaigns of Cimber Air, Danish Airlines and SAS. Planes depart from it for Billund, Bornholm, Karup, Aalborg, Aarhus and Sonderborg. You can go along the corridor to terminal No. 2. It, like No. 3, is already used for international flights.

It lists carriers and destinations for scheduled flights. An electronic scoreboard will announce the schedule of charters, as well as the possible delay of the aircraft.

Transport Connections

The third terminal was built in 1998, and its infrastructure is the most thought out. It is from here that trains leave for other cities in Denmark andeven to Sweden via the Øresund Bridge. There is also a metro station under Terminal 3. The M2 line will take you to Copenhagen in minutes. The airport will soon acquire another terminal - CPH Go. If you don't know which terminal you need, don't worry - free shuttles operate between all airport buildings, and often, at intervals of fifteen minutes, and around the clock.

Copenhagen airport: how to get to the city

You can also cover a distance of eight kilometers by taxi. Metered cars are waiting for their passengers at the arrivals areas in all airport terminals. Bus stops are also located there. You need number 5A. The sign on the car must indicate the direction "City Centre". The ticket can be bought from the driver. Buses run at intervals of 10-15 minutes, and the travel time will be half an hour.

Another option to get to the city is by train. It will take you to Copenhagen Central Station in a quarter of an hour. Be careful: trains to the city depart from platform number 2 under the third terminal. The train option is good if you plan to travel to Denmark or Sweden right away. Copenhagen train station is located almost in the city center. To get closer to the hotel, use the subway. It operates around the clock, trains run at intervals of 5 minutes during the day and 15 at night. By the time you will not lose at all - the same quarter of an hour as on the train. The entrance to the subway is located at the endTerminal No. 3.

Early departures and late arrivals
