Victory Park (Samara) is today one of the green islands in the stone jungle of the modern metropolis. However, local residents appreciate it not only for the opportunity to relax in a quiet evening, but also as a monument to the soldiers who gave their lives for the freedom of the Fatherland.
Victory Park (Samara): the beginning of history
This corner of Samara, located in the Sovetsky district, has long been a rather miserable sight. The two small lakes located here are overgrown with mud and have become more like huge muddy puddles than resting places for citizens.
The Chernivtsi gardens, famous in the recent past, located around the lakes, glorious for their apple trees, fell into disrepair, and the apple trees themselves went wild. In general, the appearance of this "corner of wild nature" was in sharp disharmony with the flourishing appearance of the young Sovetsky district.
It was then that the leadership of the city and the region decided to turn this site into a park of culture and recreation, timed to coincide with the thirtieth anniversary of the Great Victory. True, meet the deadlines for1975 failed, but two years later, the grand opening of Victory Park in Samara took place.
From the discovery to the present day
Quickly becoming one of the symbols of the city, the new park of culture and recreation fell into disrepair by the mid-2000s. Of course, every year on the eve of the Victory Day, it was redecorated, but over time, this cozy green corner became more and more decrepit. Victory Park (Samara), whose photo was published in all local publications in the late 2000s, was a rather dull sight.
It was then that at the highest regional level it was decided to make a radical reconstruction of the entire park complex. All work was completed by the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory, when the Victory Park (Samara) was opened in a solemn atmosphere.

Victory Park (Samara): a natural environment in the center of an industrial giant
The park of culture and recreation, laid out in honor of the 30th anniversary of the Victory of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers in the Great Patriotic War, is located in a very picturesque place, which attracts residents not only from neighboring quarters, but also from the most remote areas of the city.
First of all, it is worth noting that, despite the relative youth, the park managed to preserve the atmosphere of an ancient place, which we read with such envy in the works of Oscar Wilde and Leo Tolstoy. A huge role in creating this entourage is played by two ancient lakes, along the banks of which ducks like to settle.
A stunning impression is created by a magnificent linden alley that leads to the very center of the park. Upon re-opening on May 7, 2015, Victory Park (Samara) acquired another alley, which was planted together by the first persons of the city and the region, veterans of the war and the labor front, as well as radio and television stars and honorary residents.

In the harsh 1990sthe leadership of the city and the region managed to find funds to build a wonderful building right in the center of the park - a majestic monument dedicated to people from the region who took part in the famous Victory Parade, which took place in Moscow in June 1945, a little more than a month after the signing of unconditional surrender. It, like all other military monuments, always has fresh flowers.
A special attitude is observed on the part of Samara residents to the Palace of Veterans, built in the shortest possible time in 2001. This is a three-story modern building where visitors can not only communicate with each other, but also use the services of the local library, radio center and cafe. There is also a small museum here, where visitors are told about the history of the local veteran movement.
