Miami International Airport is considered the main airport serving directly the city of Miami (USA) and surrounding communities. This is the main air gate of South Florida, from where long-distance international flights are operated. Miami International is also one of eight US airports that hosts Airbus A380s. Passenger flights and cargo operations are carried out here throughout America, Europe and Western Asia, as well as cargo flights to East Asia. Miami Airport also ranks tenth in the country's airport congestion ranking.
Miami Airport History
The record of the Miami Air Station dates back to the late 1920s. In the 1930s, Pan Am operated regular flights to Cuba from here. During the Second World War, the airfield began to be used by the military. The reserve forces of the US Air Force were stationed here. At that time, the terminal consisted of one hangar. The two runways were originally separated by railroad tracks.
Direct flights to Chicago O'Hare and Newark began in late 1946, but until January 1962 direct westbound flights did not reach beyond St. Louis and New Orleans. In 1949 (g.), Miami Airport began to gradually expand its territory. In 1951, the railroad was moved to the south to make room for the runways and the construction of a new building. The old terminal on 36th Street was closed in 1959 and a new one was opened at the same time.
The first transatlantic nonstop flights to London began in 1970. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, the terminal lost its leading role in the intercontinental connection between Europe and the United States, but it still remains the most important link between North and Latin America. Today, Miami International Airport covers 1335 hectares of land and has four runways.

In addition, the terminals have parking lots and guest rooms. If necessarytourists will be provided with first aid. Here you can conduct banking transactions, meetings, take a shower. In the free trade zone, friendly consultants from various shops and kiosks will be waiting for you.
Transfer
A distance of 13 kilometers separates the city itself and Miami Airport. How to get from the airport to the city center? - such a question is often asked by passengers. There are several solutions to this problem:
- So, buses depart from the terminals. They reach the city center, the seaport and the railway station. This method is the cheapest.
- There is also a railroad track. High-speed trains carry passengers from the airport to the railway station.
- You can also use the services of taxi drivers or rent a car at the respective offices directly at the terminals.
