Rio de Janeiro is an amazing synergy of a noisy metropolis, incendiary dances, burning food and gentle waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Everything a person could wish for is in this Brazilian city.
A little about colorful Rio
It is impossible to describe Rio de Janeiro in a nutshell. It is simple, bright and noisy at the same time. But if you look a little deeper, you will see the gentle beauty of the coast at sunset and the open hearts of the locals, who are always ready to help and share the last piece of bread. The richest people in the country live in this city, building luxurious mansions with several floors, and impoverished favelas huddle nearby. You should not judge Rio by one or two days, it is too diverse. After all, even the airport of Rio de Janeiro has several names that are not related to each other. It seems that everything in this Brazilian city is woven from contradictions and paradoxes.
Flight to Rio de Janeiro
Flight Moscow - Rio de Janeiro is not the easiest and cheapest. It is worth noting that holidays in Brazil are available only to we althy people. For example, the cost of air travel from Moscow to Rio and back will beamount to about one hundred thousand rubles. At the same time, the carrier offers two transfers. Finding a direct flight is almost impossible. Most often, tourists are forced to buy tickets with two transfers, this is the most common option.
The flight itself takes at least twenty hours. First of all, it depends on the waiting time for the flight at the transit airport. Many passengers get to Rio for more than a day. This is considered average.
Rio de Janeiro Airport: History
It is worth noting that Rio has two international airports. Moreover, the secondary one is located in the very heart of the city, but the main air gate of Brazil, Galeão Airport, is separated from the center by twenty kilometers along the autobahn.
The international airport has several names. The locals call it Galean, referring to the name of the huge beach adjacent to one of the terminals. But the official name of the airport was given by one of the most famous Brazilian musicians - Antonio Carlos Jobim.
The history of the airport dates back to the early twenties of the last century. In those days, the Air Force base was located here, and only almost thirty years later the first passenger terminal was commissioned. Seven years later, the second block was opened, which is still in use today. During its existence, the airport lost its importance and the title of the main air gateway several times, but always returned this status through hard work to increase comfort and improve the quality of passenger transportation.
By the way, the airport of Rio de Janeiro and the air force base still peacefully coexist. Some time agoBrazilian authorities planned to move the military base, but there was no place for it. In the end, everything remained the same. From the windows of some terminals, tourists can watch the takeoff and landing of military aircraft.
Rio de Janeiro Airport Description

Tourists do not lack comfort and convenience. Inside the terminal there are several cafes, currency exchange offices, shops and bank branches. The city center can be reached by taxi or public transport. The airport is connected to the city by two regular routes. Travel time is approximately forty-five minutes. Rio is characterized by traffic jams, so even a few kilometers of travel will take about an hour for any tourist.
