Many travelers, choosing a place and time for a vacation, look at the weather information typical of the region at a given time. Indeed, those who want to sunbathe need a sea of sun and warm water, and for those who, for example, plan to visit the Formula 1 track, the heat will only interfere. If you plan to combine educational trips with sea holidays, the temperature in Turkey in May will be almost ideal for these purposes. During this period, the hot summer has not yet arrived, but at the same time it is already possible to sunbathe and swim.

The weather in the same month varies greatly independing on the region. The country is washed by the waters of four seas, and each coast has its own microclimate. The main resort regions of the country and their typical weather are described below.

Temperature in Turkey: Black Sea coast

The northern part of the country has access to the Black Sea. The region attracts tourists with the opportunity to combine educational tourism and beach holidays for two reasons at once:

  • a huge number of attractions located in this part of the country;
  • no sweltering heat and drought even in summer.

The climate here is closer to temperate continental: unlike the Mediterranean coast, there are no extremely high temperatures, which is why the duration of the swimming season is shorter. At the same time, the Pontic and Caucasus mountains do not allow cold air to penetrate, so that the region is quite warm in winter. The area is characterized by high humidity, and the sky is often covered with clouds. The season runs from June to September. The water temperature in these months is kept in the range of 23-26, air 25 degrees. In June and August, the rainfall is quite high.

Turkish residents prefer to relax on the Black Sea coast, and the infrastructure here is actively developing, primarily due to educational tourism. The main resorts are: Amasra, Kurukasile, Rize, Sinop and Fatsa.

Temperature in Turkey: Aegean Coast

Here is the province of Dalaman, and its calling card are consideredyouth resorts Marmaris and Bodrum and places for a relaxing holiday Icmeler and Fethiye.

The climate of this area is dry. The coast is protected by numerous islands, so the sea is calm and clear. Already at the end of spring, the air warms up to 22 degrees, the water, of course, is a little cooler. Sometimes you can swim as early as the end of April, but according to statistics, the season lasts from May to the end of September. In October it starts to rain and it gets colder.

The exception is Bodrum, which is located on the peninsula, it is more windy and cool here, the beach season is a little shorter.

Temperature in Turkey: Sea of Marmara

This coast meets no less number of tourists. The sea is small, so the water here warms up early enough. Resting in this region, you can easily get to Istanbul, Troy and other remarkable places in Turkey.

The resorts of Turkeli, Eredek and Mudanya are deservedly considered one of the best in the country, and the town of Genen is famous for its healing waters.

The climate of the region is unique - in winter the temperature rarely drops below 15 degrees, and in summer it is moderately hot, no more than 30 degrees. The air is dry.

Temperature in Turkey: Mediterranean coast

This region of the country is probably the most visited by Russians. Kemer, Antalya and Alanya are located here.

The Alanya region provides unique opportunities that few world resorts can boast of: in March, you can combine skiing and beach holidays, andFor many, this is what attracts Turkey. The temperature varies by month in Alanya as follows (average daily values are given):

Months

December-

February

March April May June July August September October November

This is the southern coast of the country, here is the hottest summer (except for the central regions) and warm winters. You can swim from March to November, but you don’t have to wait for very warm water in early spring.

And, of course, knowing the purpose of your visit and the climate of the region, you can start choosing a hotel, which will also be difficult to do.
