Currently Cherepovets airport is the largest in the entire Vologda region. In addition, it is the only one here that carries out international transportation. According to statistics, the total passenger flow in one year is approximately one and a half million people.

History

The very first airport near Cherepovets appeared in the thirties of the last century. It was located in the village of Malechkino, about three kilometers from the city. This airport allowed you to quickly move from Cherepovets to St. Petersburg, Vologda, Moscow and Syktyvkar.

Later, in the seventies, it was decided to move it to the village of Botovo, twenty-five kilometers from the city. Four years later, the airport moved to its new location.

In the late nineties it was decided to reconstruct the complex after its long downtime. After the completion of all work related to the reconstruction, in 2006 the airport received the certification necessary for it to operate and the right to serve not only long-distance, but also international flights.

Severstal Airport (Cherepovets) includes the following components:

1. VIP-hall, which is located in the right wing of the building. This room offers a small bar where you can drink tea, coffee, and alcoholic beverages. The airport also provides the opportunity to have a light snack. Cherepovets also offers its guests the opportunity to hold negotiations and meetings in this hall.

2. Mother and child room. It is located on the left side of the airport. These rooms have all the conditions necessary for a good rest of parents and children. There are beds of different sizes, a changing table, a dining room where you can cook your own food or order it from the buffet. In addition, in the left building there is a small pediatrician's office. A doctor will be able to help a child who feels unwell. This room is provided free of charge, but only if the child is under the age of seven.

3. First aid post. Only qualified doctors work here, who are ready to provide assistance around the clock to any passenger who feels unwell.

Useful information

This airport was the first among other similar regional institutions to introduce the “Wrap your luggage” service. Thanks to this, Cherepovets compares favorably with a low amount of stolen and lost luggage. The cost of such a service is only two hundred rubles.

How to get to the airport

The airport is not so close. Cherepovets is located in some distance, you need to spend time traveling to your destination. This was done for several reasons, including reducing the noise level that occurs during takeoff and landing of aircraft.

But this does not make the airport (Cherepovets) less convenient. How to get to the airport is a fairly popular question, so it needs to be discussed separately.

The easiest and most popular way is to use your own car. To get to your destination, you need to go from Cherepovets to the A114 highway, after which, focusing on the signs "Botovo" or "Airport", turn right. According to the signs, you need to move to the village, drive through it and drive up to your destination. The total travel time will be approximately 20 minutes.

You can also travel by public transport, but this method is not very convenient, as there are not always free places.

You need to go to the ticket office at the bus station of the city, buy a ticket for the Cherepovets-Vologda bus, which checks in at the airport. Separately, it is worth noting that such a bus runs every three hours, so you can check the exact time in the help desk. Also, a similar ticket can be purchased immediately from the bus driver. The cost will be one hundred rubles. The total travel time is about forty minutes.

You can get from the airport to the city in the same way. For all passengers arriving in their own cars, seats are provided onpaid secure parking.
