From the history of the station

In the 17th century, Kalanchevskoye field was located on this very place, on which the royal palace made of wood was located. The palace had a watchtower, and it was called Kalanchevskiy itself, and the square was called Kalanchevskiy field. Specifically, on the site of the station was the New Artillery Field Yard. In 1812, the shells stored in it exploded and the yard was destroyed.

On the initiative of Professor of Mathematics F. V. Chizhov, with the help of the Moscow merchant I. F. Mamontov and architect R. I. Kuzmin, construction began. And on July 22, 1862, the first train to Sergiev Posad left the Yaroslavl station. It and the platform were being completed already from 1902 to 1910. The station has gone through two global reconstructions - the first in 1966 and the second in 1995.

The last one carried out a complete redevelopment of the premises, more than doubled the passenger flow, renovated the old gallery and column hall, installed an electronic information system and an automatic fire extinguishing system.
