Begishevo is an airport in the east of the Republic of Tatarstan. Its main task is to serve the Naberezhnye Chelny urban agglomeration, which it has been performing for over 40 years.
History and background information
Begishevo (airport) is located 28 km from Naberezhnye Chelny. The nearest city, Nizhnekamsk, is 19 km away.
The air transport hub was built back in the Soviet period - in 1971. The first flights began in December 1971. In the post-Soviet period, in 1998, the airport was given international status by decision of the government.
The owner of the enterprise at the moment is the Kama Automobile Plant (KamAZ). Since 2011, large-scale work has begun on the reconstruction of the airport terminal and airfield complexes in order to obtain a new category С.
Begishevo has one lane built of asph alt concrete, the dimensions of which are 2,506 km long and 45 m wide, as well as a system of three taxiways.
