American Detroit (Michigan) is one of the largest metropolitan areas in the United States. Today this city in America is similar to the exclusion zone (Chernobyl) in Ukraine. Detroit, Michigan was founded July 24, 1701. Its founder was the French officer Antoine Lome de La Mothe Cadillac. The future metropolis is located on a trade route, thanks to which the village, where fur traders lived, turned into an industrial center in a matter of years. One now well-known American trademark has immortalized the name of the "parent" of Detroit in its name.
At the end of the 19th century, a plant for the production ofcars. And in 1903, its owner Henry Ford founded the Ford Motor Company brand, and from that moment a real boom in immigrants begins. After that, some more world leaders in the automotive industry opened their headquarters in the metropolis.
Detroit, Michigan quickly won the title of world automobile capital. At the state level, a program of public cars was implemented here. But since the 1970s, the decline of the auto center begins. Chrysler, General Motors and Ford are in a financial crisis. The auto magnates had to close their factories in Detroit and move them to those states where the labor force was several times cheaper. During the 1970s and 1980s, the number of jobs in the city was reduced by more than 200,000. Over the past half century, the population of the metropolis has halved.
But Detroit doesn't give up, attracting tourists every year for local sightseeing and car shows.
