The city of Kharkiv is the center of the Southern railway line, one of the largest transport hubs of Ukraine for special purposes. In addition to several stations, there are railway stations and platforms in the urban area. South Station is the largest and main railway station. Kharkiv residents call it that in their own way, and its official name is Art. Kharkiv-Passenger.

Thanks to the railway lines, Kharkiv is directly connected with the suburbs, major cities of Ukraine and the CIS countries. The status of a strategic destination obliges trains passing through the station to undergo technical inspection and replenish the necessary supplies.

Architecture of the station complex

The building of the station complex is a real sculptural creation, a wonderful work of masters of more than one generation. The central hall is decorated on both sides with towers (Northern and Southern), each 42 m high. The southern tower is crowned with a huge clock. Their diameter is 4.25 m.

Reconstruction and interior finishing works have made the central hall of the South Station a real architectural masterpiece. The station vestibule can only be compared with an architectural monument. The dome was decorated with images of real historical events. And in the center of splendor is the luxury of a five-ton chandelier. Its illumination envelops the hall with a soft, cozy light, in which the radiance of the golden finish gives the room even greater grandeur. Sculptors, artists, designers - everyone who took part in the improvement of the lobby of the hall did their best.

From any corner of the room it is possible to view the information fed to the display with a 360° view, it has become an interesting center of the hall.

Station Square

The modern reconstruction of the forecourt has helped it truly blend in with the unique structure of the majestic station building.

Mosaic pavement, smoothlawns and chic fountains, together with additional lighting, made the square the most beautiful corner of modern Kharkov. Now she captivates and fascinates the guests of the city, helps to while away the hour of waiting, and daily gathers the townspeople for rest.

Information about transport is probably the first thing every person who comes to the railway station is looking for. Kharkiv submits the train schedule in electronic form. This is very convenient, as visual information content reduces the workload of the station workers, and the bright backlight of the screen allows even people with low vision to get acquainted with the information.

A large electronic scoreboard with detailed information is located in the central building. Information about the transport arriving in the next hour is easy to find on the electronic scoreboard placed on the facade of the building near the North and South towers.

The schedule includes information about long-distance trains, suburban trains and electric trains arriving at the railway station. Kharkiv is not only a transit station,for many locomotives, it is the start and end.

Tickets are purchased at the box office of the central premises of the station, advance sales offices (they are located outside the station complex), at the service center (2nd floor of the station). Buying tickets online is a modern convenience.

Road to the airport

After a long journey, you were finally met by the railway station (Kharkiv)… How to get to the airport? Now this question interests you the most?

Kharkiv international airport is located 12 km from the city center. By ordering a car from the Radio Taxi service, you can reach your destination in 30 minutes, without any problems or delays. The taxi phone number is easy to find on billboards in the city.

Besides taxis, public transport goes to the airport, it is much cheaper, although it takes longer (it should be about an hour in stock).

Using the services of the metro, you need to go to the station "Prospect Gagarin". Transfer to minibus No. 119, No. 115 or No. 305 (possibly others, the main thing is that they have the inscription "Airport" - as a rule, this stop is the final one). The shuttle bus stops 500 meters from the terminal.

It is possible to get to the airport by trolleybus number 5. Arriving at the Kharkov railway station, you need to get to the Prospekt Gagarina metro station, where the 5th trolleybus runs. The only caveat is that this transport runs at fairly large intervals.
