If your plans suddenly changed dramatically or you simply missed the train, by law you have the right to return train tickets. But you must remember that there are several rules, without which you will not be able to return money for an unused ticket.

Return policy

1. In order to return train tickets, you will need to present an identity document at the box office. If you are returning someone's ticket, you will need a power of attorney from the passenger in whose name it was issued.

2. If tickets are returned abroad, then you can receive money for them only upon arrival in Russia, by presenting a receipt that will be issued to you upon return.

3. The earlier the refund procedure is carried out, the more full ticket price you will receive.

Time is money

If, for example, you return your tickets more than 8 hours before the train departure, you will get back almost the full price, except for the fee forreturn.

If you contact this question in the period from 8 to 2 hours before the train starts, in addition to the commission fee, you will be deducted another 50% of the cost of the reserved seat.

And if you want to return train tickets 2 hours before departure or within 3 hours after, then you will lose, in addition to the ticket return fee, another 100% of the cost of the reserved seat.

Let me note that a reserved seat means a certain type of fare, which is usually 30-80% of the ticket price, and even more in branded trains. To date, the fee for the return service is 141 rubles 40 kopecks.

Return procedure for e-tickets

Before handing over electronic tickets, they must first be issued at the box office of the station. To do this, you need to know the order number and have your passport with you. Only after that you can return train tickets at a special box office.

If the electronic registration procedure has already been carried out, then it must be canceled before going to hand over tickets. You can do this on the website, at the ticket office of the railway station, or through your operator. Keep in mind that you will not be able to return e-tickets one hour before the train departure, because the registration will not be canceled.

The refund procedure for returned e-tickets takes place within a month. Money is returned only to the resource from which you paid. That is, if you paid for the tickets with a bank card, then they will be credited to it.

Issue a refundtickets you can at any railway ticket office or through your tour operator. Please note that lost travel documents are non-refundable. Therefore, if you have the necessary amount of time, then it is better to restore the ticket.

You can do this if you provide documents confirming that the passenger actually purchased a ticket for this train, and this place is indicated in the ticket office of the station. In this case, you will receive a new travel document free of charge. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the money for a ticket issued to replace the lost one is not returned by the carrier.
