Istra - the river, which is considered one of the most picturesque in the suburbs. It flows through three districts: Krasnogorsk, Solnechnogorsk and Istra, then flows into the Moskva River and is its left tributary. Istra, according to the State Water Register of the Russian Federation, is a reservoir of the Oka water basin. On its banks stands the city of the same name, as well as numerous rest houses and sanatoriums. The basin of the river itself covers an area of just over 2,000 square kilometers. The length of Istra is 113 km. The Istra (river) receives its main water supply from snowmelt. In the upper reaches, the Istra reservoir and a hydroelectric power station were created. They are sources of resources for the capital. The water area of the reservoir is about 34 square kilometers. Istra has 9 tributaries: Belyanka, Gryazeva, Pesochnaya, Nudol, Ramenka, Katysh, Palishnya, Black and Malaya Istra. The river has seen many events in its history. We will talk about them further.

History

The first mention in the annals of Istra dates back to 1461. This is the spiritual diploma of the Grand Duke Vasily II the Dark. For the first time, its graphic image was created in the Book of the Great Drawing in 1552. Numeroushistorical events. For example, the Istra River was chosen by Patriarch Nikon to create the Russian Holy City. In 1656, the construction of a new center of the world, New Jerusalem, began here. True, then the river changed its name to the Jordan, and all the surrounding villages to the corresponding biblical ones. According to the drawings drawn up by the monk Arseny, small copies of the Jerusalem temples were erected here. Istra is also associated with the suppression of the rebellion of archers in 1698. The Joseph-Volokolamsky Monastery was located on the reservoir, the territories near the village of Buzharovo belonged to the ancestors of the great poet Alexander Pushkin, and Anton Chekhov lived in the village of Babkino for several years.

Recreation and tourism

The Istra River (Moscow region) flows through very picturesque places that are attractive to a large number of tourists. On the shores on weekends you can see many tents and fishermen. Steep shores covered with forests are interesting in season for mushroom pickers who bring home huge baskets of mushrooms. You can travel along the river on foot (along the shore) and by water. For example, a kayak route, as a rule, starts near the Istra platform, then goes down the river for about 35 kilometers. Hiking involves visiting attractions. The start of the standard route is at the Troitskaya platform. On the way, you can visit the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity (end of the 17th century), the village of Sannikovo with monuments from the Great Patriotic War, the Peter and Paul Church (XVIII century) in Luzhki and much more.

Fishing

For fishermen, the Istra River is very attractive in all seasons. Summer fishing here begins in early March. The wiring is caught by roach and scavenger. A little later, fishermen come here for more substantial prey: pike, silver bream and perch. Below the Istra reservoir in summer you can catch asp, ide, chub and minnows. Fishing on the river is possible in almost all ways: spinning, boat, fishing rod with a float, donkey, fly fishing and baling. In the area of the village of Petrovo-Dalnee, only breams come across. The Istra reservoir is very popular for fishing. In summer, its level drops to 4 meters. There are many areas along the shore suitable for fishing. You can catch the same fish as in the river, but sometimes you come across an eel. However, fishing in the reservoir is possible only with permits. There are several fish bases where you can purchase a permit, as well as rent a boat, relax and spend the night.

Sanatoriums and rest houses

Istra is an attractive river for organized recreation. Most of the sanatoriums and rest houses here were built in Soviet times. They have not become less popular even now. For example, the Istra sanatorium was opened in the middle of the 20th century for workers in the nuclear industry. Here the most progressive methods of healing were introduced. And the rest house "Podmoskovnaya Sloboda" was put into operation already in modern Russia. This is a family recreation center where they come with children. There are spacious rooms (up to 6 rooms) and all conditions for relaxation, games and activitiesphysical education. Cottages are also rented along Istria for weekends, celebrations and vacations.
