Nizhny Novgorod railway stations can be useful for those who arrive in this city or depart from it somewhere by bus, train or river transport. The most convenient would probably be the train station, which is located near the historic center, next to the metro, and trains run through it to many cities.
Railway station and its properties
The railway station in Nizhny Novgorod is located near the metro station "Moskovskaya" and the Moscow highway. This is a convenient place to the west of the bridge over the Oka, a variety of transport goes past to other parts of the city. Until 2010, it was called the Moscow Station of Nizhny Novgorod. Despite the renaming, the name is still in use.
Next to the station there is an interesting architectural monument - the imperial pavilion. It was built in 1894 at the initiative of local merchants. Now it is a museum object that will be interesting to visit for guests of the city.
From the Nizhny Novgorod railway station, you can get off atnorth side, where the shopping center "Puck" of the appropriate form is located, and behind it - the square of the 65th anniversary of the Victory with a memorial sign and the street that leads to the metro station "Kanavinskaya". From it you can start a walk to the northern part of the city to the Burevestnik station, which is located on the way to such interesting objects:

If you move from the station to the northeast, you can walk east to the Alexander Nevsky Church near the mouth of the Oka River, to the building of the 19th century fair.
In the area south of the station, you can get to the Children's Railway, the GAZ plant and its museum, and the park of the 777th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod by metro and other transport.
The upland part of the city, that is, the historical part, where the Kremlin and other architectural monuments, is easily reached on foot or by metro - the neighboring Gorkovskaya station.

Where to leave Nizhny Novgorod by rail?
Many trains and long-distance trains depart from Nizhny Novgorod Station.
Commuter trains go to the following cities:
- Gorokhovets, Vyazniki and Kovrov in the west;
- Arzamas and Murom in the south;
- Zavolzhye,Semyonov and Pizhma north of the regional center.
Long-distance trains from the Nizhny Novgorod station go to a large number of cities, from Vorkuta in the north to Adler in the south, from Vladivostok and Beijing in the east to Brest in the west. There is an international train of the Mongolian formation to Ulaanbaatar and a proprietary train to Novy Urengoy.
The fastest trains of the Strizh and Lastochka class will take you from Nizhny Novgorod to Moscow in just 3 hours and 45 minutes. They depart from 7 am to 8 pm, the last one arrives at the Kursk railway station of the capital at 23:58.
Bus stations in Nizhny Novgorod
As in any major city, there are several of them:
- Kanavinskaya bus station. It is located near the railway station. There is also a platform next to it, from where buses run to Moscow.
- Shcherbinki bus station. It opened in 2015. There are many flights, there are even international ones, for example, to the capital of Azerbaijan. It is located in the south of the city, on the other side of the Oka river relative to the car factory.
- Sennaya bus station. Flights from there go to small towns like Vyksa.
River Station Properties
It is located on the Volga embankment in the historical part of the city, near the Kremlin and the Shipping Museum. From the river station, river walks begin, they can last 1.5 hours, steamboats leave for Gorodets and Oka Dali.
River cruises run along the Volga from Tver to Astrakhan through this station. Their schedule should be checked on the spot.
