Spring 2013 gave the residents of Belgorod the terminal of the famous local airport. In the process of the formation of a new branch of the terminal, the entire infrastructure of the nearby massif has changed. Buildings, structures and communications have been improved and transformed.
Excellent performance
The airport "Belgorod" has a terminal that serves about 135 thousand people a year. Its main visitors are local residents, and the building itself acts as an important city landmark. Round-the-clock check-in of passengers for flights in all directions takes place here, transportation is carried out on numerous domestic and international air routes. In order to book a flight, you can call Belgorod Airport, whose phone number is (4722) 358-657.
Reconstruction of the building and surrounding area
In the first days and months after the reconstruction of the building, the management carried out an action for test flights, in which a large number of students and volunteers (150 people) took part. Also during the firstmonth, an active check of all services and communications took place, the level of service, the technical side and the quality of work of airport employees were assessed. Testing was carried out by border control services, customs inspection and other important structures.
Since 2010, major repairs have been carried out, which ensured a full-fledged reconstruction of the area. Its start was the transfer of OJSC "Belgorodovia" to the regional use from federal property.
Beginning history
Belgorod Airport appeared on the territory of Russia in 1954. At that time, the necessary medical workers and postal correspondence were actively transported to distant parts of the city. It was at that moment that the Kursk Air Squadron was moved to the city to help local residents from remote areas. The airport had several types of aircraft designed for two seats. The planes were single-engine, and landing was carried out on dirt strips. The attendants, pilots and employees of the structure lived on the territory of the airport in small houses. In total, there were about 20 people.
Three years later, more powerful cars, four-seaters, began to be used. Aircraft such as the Yak-12 could carry local residents and a fair amount of cargo. At the same time, the staff and the flight area have expanded. The airport began to have its own meteorological point.
Main flight destinations
Year foryear the airport "Belgorod" is being improved, the number of aircraft units is being added. In addition, the capabilities of pilots are also growing.
During the 60s, the flight radius of aircraft covered several cities, such as Anapa, Kyiv, Sochi, Donetsk, Moscow, Poltava. By the 80s, it became possible to communicate directly with Astrakhan, Tyumen, Simferopol, Lipetsk, Krasnodar, Murmansk and many other settlements. The first hangars were built on the territory of the airport, in which repairs and maintenance of aircraft were carried out.
By 1985 the airport "Belgorod" becomes international. Flights began to depart to all major cities in the Caucasus, Ukraine, the B altic states and Siberia. 1995 opens air borders with Turkey, Bulgaria, Israel.
In the 2000s, the airport receives and operates flights to various destinations - China, Hungary, Cyprus and others. Since then, structural changes have begun. In 2002, the Belgorod enterprise was transformed into the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Belgorod State Aviation Enterprise". Then it was finally reorganized and renamed into JSC Belgorod Aviation Enterprise.
In 2005, the leadership liquidated the flight squad and stopped using aircraft. Since then, Belgorod Airport has limited flights, and the level of regular flights has dropped significantly.
After the transfer of the airport to the ownership of the region, they actively began to carry out reconstruction, construction andrepair work.
New developments and building design
A specially created commission for the reconstruction clearly monitored every step and every meter of the upcoming large-scale construction. According to all points of the project, the airport building and the territory adjacent to it were subjected to the following changes:
- Expansion of the runway. For the high-quality use of modern aircraft, the runway canvas had to be increased to such dimensions: 2500 m in length and 45 m in width. To increase the resistance to the upcoming load, the canvas itself was reinforced with a high-strength layer of asph alt concrete pavement.
- Increase in aircraft reception areas. The project is specially designed for maximum convenience of accepting several air vehicles and their quick placement. Aprons, places for preventive and repair maintenance have been reconstructed, the number of aircraft parking spaces has been significantly increased.
- Effective flight management. A new comfortable control room has been created to work at a higher level. The latest means of communication and radio navigation have been installed. The new lights of the modern lighting system will allow you to clearly see the runway and calmly land the aircraft even in the worst weather conditions.
Belgorod Airport today
Given the scope of the large-scale operation, today this is one of the most modern places that can receive and place on its territory the most demandedmachines - Airbus-321, Il-76, Airbus-319, Tu-154, Boeing-737 and other aircraft models of all modifications.
The new airport "Belgorod" today serves the entire city and region. In the next 10-15 years, it will undoubtedly remain one of the most efficient and powerful airports in the country. Looking at the building from above, it resembles a flying seagull.
