In the sixties of the XX century, one of the largest reservoirs in Russia appeared as a result of the construction of a dam during the construction of a hydroelectric power station. It was located on the Kama River. The Votkinsk reservoir (map below) is located on the territory of the Republic of Udmurtia (the city of Votkinsk) and the Perm Territory, near the settlements of Chaikovsky, Krasnokamsk, Osa and Okhansk.
The reservoir was formed to support the economy of two large regions of the country. Today it is used for the development of energy, expansion of the use of water transport, seasonal flow regulation, as well as tourism, hunting and fishing.
Brief description of the body of water
Votkinsk reservoir is quite large. Its area is 1120 km. sq., length - 365 km. As for the depth, the average does not exceed 8 m, however, there are places where this figure is almost 28 m. The width of the reservoir varies throughout its length, the largest distanceopposite banks is a distance of 9 km.
These characteristics make it possible to use the reservoir for navigation. Thus, two-way shipping routes are organized, which significantly reduces the distance from Perm to the lower Kama.
Natural Features
The nature of the territories occupied by the reservoir is very diverse. On its banks stretch mixed and coniferous forests, rich in their resources. The waters of the reservoir itself are famous for the variety of river fish, in addition, 57 small rivers flow into it, which makes this place attractive for recreation. Fishing is famous in these parts. The Votkinsk reservoir has become a "home" for more than 35 species of fish. This is bream, roach, sabrefish. There are also larger representatives - pike, catfish, etc.
What awaits tourists?
There are many tourist camps on the banks of the Votkinsk reservoir. In the winter season, vacationers can entertain themselves with skating and skiing, and this is also the best time for lovers of winter fishing. In summer, the entertainment sector is more diverse, tourists are offered quad bikes, boats and catamarans, as well as horseback riding, cycling and hiking in the surrounding area. The local forests surrounding the Votkinsk reservoir amaze with their beauty and delight with a variety of berries and mushrooms. Every year, a sailing regatta for the Kama Cup is held in the water area. Some places that experience quite high temperatures in summer attract beach lovers.
Currently, theconstant construction of new facilities, both for vacationers and for those wishing to undergo sanatorium treatment.
From the side of the Perm Territory, near the city of Chaikovsk, there are five recreation centers. The Votkinsk reservoir is quite deep, so it offers rental services for boats, sailboats, motor ships and yachts. This place is also suitable for a beach holiday. Nearby are protected forest areas: Plotbishche and Vekoshinka. They represent thousands of hectares of forests with a varied landscape rich in berries and mushrooms. There are also moorings for cruise ferries. Sports complexes and boarding houses are being built in this area. On the territory of the Udmurt Republic, near the village of Nechkino, there is a ski resort. The natural national park Nechkinsky is also located here. This is a unique natural area that was not affected by any ice age. All objects of local tourism are concentrated in this place.
