Ancient rocks of slates and granites that lie at the base of the natural monument are reddish in color and formed about two billion years ago. The muddy waters of the Colorado River have the same shade, with a suspension of sand and clay.

National Park

In 1919, a national park was created here, annually receiving more than five million tourists a year. The Grand Canyon of Colorado is a stunning natural wonder that looks like a flat surface from a distance, and only at the very edge of the plateau is a mesmerizing gorge that expands every year.
