The Scandinavian Peninsula is the largest in Europe. It is characterized by an interesting history and picturesque landscapes. One-fourth of the peninsula lies outside the Arctic Circle, while ninety-four percent of the population lives south of the Arctic Circle. Cape Nordkin is located in the Arctic - the extreme point of the northern continent. Here, in the mountains, is the largest glacier in Europe.
The Scandinavian Peninsula occupies most of the B altic Shield, which also includes Finland, the northeastern edge of Russia and the bottom of the B altic Sea. Many centuries ago, the stability of the B altic shield began to decline, which caused a slow flooding of the area. When the ice finally melted, the shield plateau began to rise, which continues to this day. The coast, which is part of the B altic Sea, is constantly in motion. Its rise is approximately one centimeter per year. However, the other side of the peninsula is constantly sinking. For many thousands of years, the Scandinavian Peninsula was completely covered in glaciers. Over time, melting, they led to the formation of the famous Norwegian fjords.

spruce trees. There are also mixed and broad-leaved forests. They have a variety of animal species. There are many different birds in the forests, a large number of fish species in the sea.
