Spindleruv Mlyn is a ski resort in the Czech Republic, the most popular among winter sports enthusiasts both in the country and abroad. We can say that this is a worthy competitor to other ski centers in the Slovak and Polish Tatras and Carpathians. Why is this ski resort so attractive? Like many places intended for skiing, it has grown to include several villages. The previously independent villages of Gornji Mishky, Prshedni-Labska, Bedrichov and Svati Petr are now united into two zones. These ski centers are named after the mountains. So, skiers will have to choose one of two ski centers - "Medvedin" or "Svati Petr". But you don't have to worry about the dilemma. After all, in both ski areas there is a single ski pass. Let's now take a closer look at all the advantages of each ski center. What do the reviews say about the holidays on Spindleruv Mlyn?
General characteristics of the resort
Both "Svati Peter" and "Medvedin" have a number ofqualities that are enjoyable to ride. The town of Spindleruv Mlyn itself, whose history we will tell you later, is located at an altitude of 718 meters above sea level. "Svati Petr" has eleven tracks of varying difficulty. There is also a fan park and cross-country skiing trails. This ski area is located at an altitude of 718-1310 meters above sea level. The Medvedin ski area is slightly smaller and lower. Its maximum height is 1000 m above sea level. There are seven tracks in Medvedin, suitable for skiers of different skill levels - from beginners to experts. As the reviews say, the recreation infrastructure is more developed at Swati Petr. At least there is a kindergarten where you can leave your child in the care of professional educators and go to master the mountain slopes with a calm heart. In general, let the numbers speak for themselves: the total length of the slopes is twenty-five kilometers, a single subscription is valid for twenty-eight lifts, three of which are chairlifts. In the evening, only some slopes are illuminated.
Where Spindleruv Mlyn is located
The Czech Republic is mostly a flat country. But there are amazing mountains in it called the Krkonoše. They are located in the north of the country, in the upper reaches of the Elbe, not far from Germany and at the very Czech-Polish border. The second name of the Krkonoše is “Giant Mountains”. The Germans call this massif the Rübetzal. This word, like Krkonoš, means in the folklore of the locals an evil spirit that lives in the mountains and causes bad weather. But there is now a hydrometeorological center against Rübetzal. Keep a close eye on the weather forecast andeverything will be fine.
History of the resort
Spindleruv Mlyn was formed later than the surrounding settlements. For example, Swati Petr has been known as a temporary and later permanent camp for ore and silver miners since the early sixteenth century. Mlyn means "mill" in Czech. At the end of the eighteenth century, it belonged to a certain Silesian German named Spindler. Gradually, buildings began to appear around the mill - a forester's house, summer houses, and then permanent shepherds' huts. But these places would have remained half settled, if not for the fashion for mountain tourism. Already in the middle of the nineteenth century, we althy people went to Spindleruv Mlyn en masse to breathe in the healing air. Like mushrooms after the rain began to grow chalets and villas. Franz Kafka also came here in 1922. In Spindleruv Mlyn, he began writing his novel The Castle. The resort reached a special peak of popularity with the advent of fashion for ski holidays.
