Modern Ashgabat, the sights of which we will describe in this article, is one of the most beautiful cities in Central Asia. This is the capital of Turkmenistan and it has been listed in the Guinness Book of Records five times as the place where the largest number of buildings inlaid with white marble is located. The settlement strikes the attention with fountain complexes, luxurious snow-white architecture, and general splendor. Ashgabat is also the largest scientific, industrial and cultural center of the state.
Kingdom of carpets
Ashgabat, the sights of which we are considering, many people in the world know as a city that houses a huge Turkmen Carpet Museum. In 1993, according to the order of the President of Turkmenistan, this landmark exposition was created. The institution bears the name of the Hero of the country Gurbansoltan-eje.
The museum contains the largest collection of modern and antique items on Earthnational carpet weaving. Here you can find very rare examples of pile woolen carpets and other items, the creation of which dates back to the 18th century. The main exhibit of the museum is a carpet called "Golden Age of the Great Saparmurat Turkmenbashi". This is the largest carpet on the planet: its area is 301 m2, and the weight of the product exceeds one ton. It was woven by hand in 2001.
The main mosque of the country
Ashgabat (attractions) on its territory placed the main mosque of Turkmenistan, named after Turkmenbashi Rukhy. To more accurately describe the location of the object, it should be said that it is located not in the capital itself, but 15 kilometers from it.
Giant building invariably strikes the human imagination, impresses with its grandeur and beauty. Ashgabat, the sights of the city, in general, have such a feature - as if it fascinates tourists with grace and picturesque views. But people who have visited the mosque are left with a strange feeling of despondency from what they see.
The structure is of gigantic dimensions and is completely lined with white marble. One hundred million dollars were spent on the construction of the facility. The mosque is located on a territory with an area of 18 thousand m2. The ceilings are 55 meters high. The height of each of the four separate minarets is 80 meters.
Presidential residence
Ashgabat Square (attractions, photos and description can be viewed inthis review) reaches almost 700 square kilometers, so it became possible to place many beautiful objects on its territory. One of these was the Oguzkhan palace complex, which is the residence of the head of Turkmenistan. The complex is a series of buildings occupying a very large area in the center of the capital.
The complex consists of buildings from different times. The oldest of them was built during the Soviet Union. Today it has been completely reconstructed. In 2011, new, beautiful buildings were built, including the Oguzhan Palace.
The palace has several halls. Distinguished guests are often met in the central hall. In the "Golden Hall" bilateral negotiations of the highest level are held in a narrow circle. "Gorkut-Ata" is a hall intended for holding negotiations in a wider format. There is also a hall in which important agreements and documents are signed (“Seljuk-Khan”), a hall for holding press conferences (“Bayram-Khan”). There are also other halls for other events.
Colorful TV tower
A 211-meter TV tower has been erected on the crest of the Kopetdag ridge. In the central part of the television and radio center there is an eight-pointed “star of Oguzhan”, which is covered on both sides with special blue durable glasses. Like Ashgabat (attractions, photos of which are attached), this element was once included in the Book of Records as the world's largest architectural image of a star. When it gets dark outside, the TV tower turns on the colorhighlighting, giving the object a special flavor.
The state radio and TV channels operate in the TV center. In the main block of the tower, there are 31 floors, where studios, office space, cafeterias, lounges and other facilities are located. At a height of 145 meters there is a revolving restaurant. From it you can admire the stunning panoramas of Ashgabat.
Palace of Happiness in Ashgabat
The wedding palace "Bagt Koshgi" ("Palace of Happiness") was opened in 2011. This is a ten-story building built in the form of an eight-pointed star of Oguzhan. A cube rises on the columns, which is at the same time the upper step of the palace and contains a rotating ball, the diameter of which reaches 32 meters. This geometric body has become a symbolic image of the globe. In the center of the ball is the golden map of the country.
Turkmenistan (Ashgabat, attractions) can be viewed from the hill on which the palace itself is located. If you can’t see the whole country, then its capital can be seen quite well. Several wedding ceremonies can be organized at the same time in the palace, as it has eight entrances. There are also a couple of wedding halls, which can be found on the ground floor of the building. One of them can accommodate five hundred people, the second - twice as much.
