In the southeastern part of the capital there is one of the favorite vacation spots - Kuskovo (park). Address of the forest park and the museum: Moscow, st. Youth, 2. It is located inside the metropolis, but visitors forget about it, getting into a beautiful corner of nature.

The forest park zone is located on the Meshcherskaya lowland and has an area of more than 300 hectares. There are several beautiful ponds on its territory. The largest and most famous is the Great Palace Pond. It is located opposite the palace and the estate and has an area of 14 hectares.

How to get there?

Kuskovo (park) is considered to be one of the most popular and favorite places of recreation for residents of the capital, as well as its guests. Almost every Muscovite knows how to get to it. You can get to the Kuskovsky forest park by your own car, taxi or public transport. By car, it is convenient to use a map or navigator. There are several options for walking on your own:

• From the Vykhino metro station, take bus No. 620 or fixed-route taxi No. 9M to the bus stop Kuskovo Museum, Moldagulova Street or Veshnyakovskaya Street.
• From Ryazansky Prospekt metro station, transfer to bus No. 133 or 208, go to the stop called Kuskovo Museum, Moldagulova Street or Veshnyakovskaya Street.
• From the Novogireevo metro station, take bus No. 615, 247 or trolleybus No. 64 to the Ulitsa Yunosti stop.
• In the Kazan railway direction of the station "Perovo", "Veshnyaki" or "Plyushchevo".
• In the Gorky railway direction of Kuskovo, Novogireevo or Chukhlinka stations.

Opening hours

Kuskovsky park is conditionally divided into two zones: museum and forest park. Residents call both parts the same, but at the same time they specify Kuskovo - a park or a museum. The park area consists of a wild forested part and a count's regular park, on the territory of which there is a beautiful Museum-Estate. This estate once belonged to the famous generation of Counts Sheremetevs. The forest park is open for walks at any time, the regular park can be visited from 10.00 to 20.00, and the manor-museum has paid opening hours from 10.00 to 18.00. Ticket offices are open from 10.00 to 17.00.

Today Kuskovskaya forest park area is considered one of the most visited places in the capital. People come here to breathe the air, admire nature and actively relax.

Reviews about a walk in the park are usually positive. On its territorymany playgrounds for children, benches, there are excellent places for cycling, rollerblading or skating. The forest park area is clean and well-groomed, it has special picnic pavilions. The variety of plantings is not very diverse, but visitors call Kuskovo (park) clean, cozy and quiet. Only sometimes the sounds of wildlife are interrupted by the barely audible noise of the railway or the music coming from the museum in the evenings.

Flora and fauna

On the northeast side of the Bolshoi Palace Pond, one of the oldest Moscow parks has been preserved - the count's regular park called Kuskovo. The park covers an area of more than 30 hectares. In the 18th century it was considered one of the largest in Russia. On the southwestern side of the Great Palace Pond there is a chic forest area with clearings, walking paths and benches.

The flora of the Kuskovsky forest park includes mainly birch, lime and old oak forests, as well as spruce and larch. Also here you can see sedges, ferns, buttercups, violets. The fauna of the forest park is represented by squirrels and birds (about 45 species). Visitors bring treats for the ducks on the pond and the squirrels, who take food from their hands.

Bicycle rental

One of the major recreation areas in Moscow with many paved and unpaved paths is Kuskovo Park. Bicycle rental, organized in it during the warm season, allows you to actively relax in the fresh air. The terrain is flat, without slides, but there are many paths and trails for every taste. Big area for skiing(forest and 10 km of smooth asph alt), so cyclists have a place to accelerate and find an interesting route for themselves.

Before, cyclists had to come here with their own vehicles. But now the administration of the capital has organized a bike rental point on the territory of the forest park, which is located near the building of the directorate of the park area. The most common rental bikes are called Stels Navigator. The cost of a bike rental is 150 rubles per hour (for the first two hours), and starting from the third it is already 100 rubles per hour. For family outdoor activities with children, you can rent bicycles with a child seat installed on the trunk. Their use costs 200 rubles/hour

Entertainment: ice rink, roller skates and playgrounds

Kuskovo (park) is great for family walks. On its territory there are children's and sports grounds. Roller skating is possible on smooth paved paths. Unfortunately, there are no roller skate rentals here yet, but many come with their own. Even on weekdays, you can see a lot of roller skates here. It will be interesting for children to ride ponies and horses, which are waiting for visitors in warm weather.

In winter, the park area is also crowded. In the winter months, an ice rink is poured near the pond on the site, so many people come to ride in the air near the beautiful snowy landscapes. There is a special point where you can rent skates and tubing. For the comfort of customers, a warm locker room and a wardrobe are built nearby. The cost of visiting the rink foradults and children over 7 years old on weekdays - 100 rubles, on weekends - 150 rubles.

Picnics and barbecues

After a long winter, residents of the capital traditionally like to relax in nature and eat barbecue in the fresh air. By law, it is forbidden to make a fire in forests and parks. The Code of the capital on administrative offenses for the use of barbecues and making fires in places not allowed for this in the zone of Moscow forest parks provides for pen alties in the amount of 5 thousand rubles. This should only be done in designated picnic areas. One of such specially equipped places of recreation in the capital, which has covered wooden gazebos, benches with tables, barbecues, bins, is Kuskovo (park). You can cook kebabs here for free.

Seventeen special sites are equipped in the Kuskovsky forest park: ten free and seven paid specialized "grill houses". Free picnic pavilions are located on the western side of the Bolshoi Palace Pond, in the Dawn Alley zone and in the northwestern zone of the forest park. They have tables, benches, barbecues. The only drawback is the lack of awnings. A more comfortable family picnic can be arranged in a paid "grill house". You can book it on the park's website. But it’s better to take free picnic pavilions early in the morning, as there are a lot of people who want them, especially on holidays and weekends.
