Gomel is known as the largest regional center of Belarus. It is a major transportation hub. From Gomel you can get to different cities of the Gomel region, for example, to Rechitsa. The distance from Gomel to Rechitsa is about 50 kilometers.
Commuter train option
Belarus has a well-developed commuter rail service. Many electric trains run between Gomel and Rechitsa from 6 am to 8 pm. Due to stops along the way, they travel slowly, and the journey of 53 kilometers takes between 65 and 90 minutes. Rechitsa is rarely the final destination of these trains, as a rule, they follow to Kalinkovichi or Khoiniki.
Especially worth noting are the express trains departing at 09:51, 12:17, 14:53, they can take you from Gomel to Rechitsa in 65 minutes.
A ticket costs 32 rubles, compared with neighboring Russian regions, the tariffs on Belarusian railways are several times lower.
In the opposite direction, from Rechitsa to Gomel, from 6 am to 8 pm, nine electric trains leave. Of these, three are accelerated departures with the following schedule:
- 09:26.
- 17:18.
- 18:14.
Gomel and Rechitsa have quite "civilized" stations. The first is larger, as it is located in the regional center, the second is smaller, but also a beautiful railway station, which underwent reconstruction in 2007.
Long-distance train option
The train from Gomel to Rechitsa can be reached in 55 minutes. A little faster than the train. There are enough trains of the Belarusian formation between the cities, their schedule looks like this:

- 22:06.
The trains end in the cities of Grodno, Minsk, Polotsk and Brest.
Trains depart from Rechitsa to Gomel according to the following schedule:

Given the short distance between cities, it is best to take a seated car ticket, it costs 90 rubles (about 3 Belarusian rubles). The train runs non-stop.
Ride on the bus
Buses from Gomel to Rechitsa depart from the bus station, which is located on the same square as the railway station. Buses between cities run from 6 am to 8 pm, the trip takes from 60 to 75 minutes. In total, up to 30 flights per day, therefore, tickets can be bought before departure. The buses themselves can run not only for short distances, for example, only from Gomel toRechitsa. Longer routes are also very popular: to Svetlogorsk, Soligorsk or Moscow.
In the opposite direction, from Rechitsa to Gomel, the first flight departs at 6:20 am, and the last one at 19:22.
The bus station in Rechitsa is located next to the railway station.
Drive a car
It is possible to get from Gomel to Rechitsa by car in less than an hour, because the drive is about 50 kilometers, depending on which district of the regional center you leave from.
For example, you can leave the Sovietsky district of Gomel on the M-10 highway and after the bridge across the Dnieper turn onto the R-32, it leads to the southeastern part of Rechitsa, the entrance to the city will be near the railway and Sovetskaya Street.
What to see in Gomel?
The city is a place worth visiting at least for a weekend. It is quite possible to take a walk for a couple of days, see its main attractions. By age, it is 5 years older than Moscow, but in terms of the number of interesting objects it is inferior, for example, to St. Petersburg, and maybe Grodno, since there are no castles in Gomel.
Gomel has a very simple and pretty coat of arms: a golden lynx lies in a blue field.
The largest number of sights are located in the triangle between Sovetskaya, Lenina and Pobeda streets, between the railway station and the Sozh river.
On the banks of the Sozh there is a palace complex of the 19th century, which is depicted on the new banknote of 20 Belarusian rubles (about 600 Russian rubles), as well as on the old banknote of 20 thousand
You should definitely visit this palace and the Museum of the Old Believersnearby.
From the center of Gomel you can go to the Soviet district in the south-east of the city, where there are many funny monuments: Gulliver, giant crows, heroes of the fairy tale "Turnip". A very photogenic place!
Why go to Rechitsa?
Rechitsa is an interesting city for Belarus in its own way. It is the center of oil production and a major industrial center. Rechitsa is located on the banks of the Dnieper, so when visiting the city, it is worth taking a walk along the embankment.
As in many cities of Belarus, Orthodox churches and a Catholic church coexist in Rechitsa.
Walking along it is best to start from the Station Square. At the crossroads with Lenin Street there is a shopping center "Belmarket", where you can go shopping.
It takes 20-30 minutes to get to the city center along Lenin Street, where a light and music fountain near the embankment serves as a convenient reference point.
The Rechitsa embankment contains several useful objects:
- Children's park.
- City beach.
- Sculptural composition "Bikers".
- The Chapel of Euphrosyne of Polotsk.
- City cinema.
From the embankment along Sovetskaya Street you can walk to Victory Park, where there are a cannon, a tank and various memorials to those who died during the Second World War, soldiers, civilians and partisans.
From the cultural sites of Rechitsa, it is worth visiting the local history museum, its exposition allows you to learn more about this region.
From Rechitsa on the R-82 highway you can make a trip to the city of Svetlogorskon the banks of the Berezina. Here you can visit the local history museum, an art gallery and a majestic Catholic church for a small town.
