Both islands have a Mediterranean climate.

True, some of the tourists claim that the water is warmer in the quiet bays of Crete. But globally, this does not affect the situation, and the weather can change even at the same time from season to season.

When choosing Crete, you need to know that the resorts located in the northern part of the island are famous for, among other things, rough seas - a paradise for lovers of skiing, but not very suitable for families with children. The same can be said about the Aegean coast of Rhodes. The cities of Ixia and Ialyssos are deservedly considered one of the best windsurfing centers in Greece.

Rhodes or Crete: features of geography

Having a rest in Crete, you can swim in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea, and in Rhodes - also the Aegean. The landscape and dimensions of the islands differ significantly. Rhodes is significantly inferior to Crete in size. Most of its territory is a plain. Thus, if we compare the comfort of moving around the islands, Rhodes has the upper hand. This is especially important for people who do not tolerate traveling in a car or bus. The landscape of Crete includes mountains, so when going to the island, you need to be prepared for trips along winding serpentines.with noticeable elevation changes.

Arriving in Rhodes and renting a car for a few days, you can drive around it all and see a lot of interesting things, while the trips will not be tiring even for small children.

But Crete cannot be explored at once, and significant distances will have to be overcome. Some argue that Rhodes is the greener island. In fact, the nature of Crete is more diverse, there are rocky mountains, and there are areas immersed in greenery.

Rhodes or Crete: excursions and activities

On both islands you can find quiet resort towns for a relaxing secluded holiday, for example, Lindos and Kallithea in Rhodes and Falassarna, Sitia and others in Crete. Fans of nightlife also have plenty to choose from. On Rhodes it is Faliraki, on Crete - Platanias and Hersonissos. Resting on any of the islands, you can visit the water park.

The excursion program offered in Crete is rightfully considered more extensive: the Palace of Knossos, Heraklion, Spinalonga, boat trips to the islands of Santorini, Diya - you can list them for a long time. On the other hand, it is impossible to explore in detail every corner of the island even during a two-week vacation. Therefore, the pursuit of seeing all the sights is not the best way to organize leisure time, and you will certainly want to return to the island again.

Rhodes is also not deprived of interesting places: Lindos, the Valley of the Butterflies, the Palace of the Magisters, the Valley of the Seven Springs, despite its smaller size compared to Crete, you will not be bored either.

Sogreat holidays are guaranteed on both islands, but for families with young children who plan not only to spend time on the beach, but also to see the island, Rhodes looks a little more preferable.
