And low-cost airlines help them with this. And it takes low-cost airlines in the Emirates mainly at Sharjah Airport. Dubai, Ajman and the city after which the air harbor is named are equally distant from it. Therefore, tourists who follow to other resorts in the UAE land at the Sharjah airport. What to expect from this hub? We will talk about the structure of the airport and the services in the terminal in our article. We will also give some tips on how to get to Sharjah and other cities of the Emirates from the air harbor. Much of our information comes from traveler reviews.
History
Sharjah is one of the few cities in the East where an airport existed in the first half of the last century. But the air harbor, which arose in 1932, was actually built in the center, on King Abdul Aziz Avenue. Security andthe comfort of the city's residents demanded that Sharjah Airport be moved away from the crowded streets. Which was done at the very beginning of 1977. The United Arab Emirates was already known as a Mecca for beach tourists. Therefore, the place for the airport was chosen with a "far sight". The harbor is located within the city of Ajman, at an almost equal distance from Sharjah and the hub of Dubai. When passenger traffic in the UAE grew to fabulous proportions, this airport became the main landing point for low-cost flights. The local low-cost company Air Arabia is based here. The air harbor is also considered the largest cargo transport hub in the Middle East.
Terminal
Initially, the hub had an additional role. But the terminal, although it remained the only one, has been repeatedly rebuilt and improved in accordance with the high hi-tech standards that the UAE is famous for. Sharjah Airport is crowned with a large snow-white dome, and inside everything is automated with the latest technology. Direct routes link the hub with the two ports of Sharjah in the Persian Gulf. And five cargo terminals accept cargo from all over the world. But tourists are not very interested in these details. The only passenger terminal in the fifteenth year managed to receive twelve million travelers. It is simply impossible to get lost in it. This does not allow neither the size nor the services of the information service. There are numerous boards that indicate flights, and those who are not able to understand them will be taken by the handle to the desired gate by special workers.
Sharjah Airport: service reviews
Budget travelers often fly with connecting flights. And Sharjah often becomes a transfer point. Some tourists spend here waiting for a flight for about ten hours. Therefore, there are so many reviews about this passenger terminal and its services. Like other air harbors in the UAE, Sharjah Airport has good technical equipment. There is duty-free, a playground, chapels and a mosque, fast food cafes, gourmet restaurants. There is also a hotel here. Those passengers who are willing to pay for extra comfort can use the special Hala service, which provides lightning-fast passage of all formalities, meals, rest and leisure. However, it should be remembered that due to prohibition, it is unlikely that you will be able to stock up on alcohol in duty free.
