Significant in the fate of this settlement was the end of the eighteenth century, then onon the site of the destroyed fortress, a chic palace of the counts of Bobrinsky was erected.
During the Great Patriotic War, the city was captured by enemy troops. Bogoroditsk was under occupation for a whole month, during which time the Germans destroyed more than half of the houses, executed 32 people. December 15, 1941 the city was liberated.
