The Republic of Udmurtia is not known to everyone. But everyone knows who Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and the Buranovskiye Babushki are. But what connects these two names with the indicated locality? The answer is simple: this is the small homeland of the great composer and modern pop group. But not only this is famous for such an amazing region. The sights of Udmurtia, its nature, cuisine, national traditions and folk arts and crafts have recently aroused great interest not only among Russians themselves, but also among foreign tourists.
Majestic nature
Russia is simply replete with luxurious, sometimes wild and impregnable nature. And therein lies its greatness. Not the last place among all this splendor is occupied by the natural attractions of Udmurtia. One of such places is the Ust-Belsk park. It is located in the southeastern part of the Republic at the confluence of the Kama and Belaya rivers. This nature reserve was developed in the late summer of 2001.
The total area of the park reaches 1770hectares. Rare species and breeds of animals and species of trees are preserved here, which are listed in the "Red Book" of Udmurtia and Russia. Also among the objects of this zone can be noted various types of forests, reservoirs and the natural monument "Chagandinskiye caves".
The Nechekino National Park is also called a natural landmark of the Republic of Udmurtia. Its area is 20 thousand hectares. The reserve also boasts abundant flora and fauna. Of particular value is the right bank of the Nechkinka River, where you can find old pine forests.
Tchaikovsky lived here
Telling about the sights of Udmurtia and not mentioning the place where Pyotr Tchaikovsky was born and raised means forgetting the name of this world famous composer. He was born in the city of Votkinsk, on the street of the Lord. In 1940, in the house where the composer was born a hundred years ago, a museum was opened in memory of this man. The two-story building demonstrates the things and environment in which the first childhood years of little Petya passed. The building with a mezzanine, where the whole Tchaikovsky family lived, was built in 1806. And opposite the house was the Annunciation Cathedral, in which the future composer was baptized.
The museum has a huge hall where classical music concerts, literary evenings and theatrical performances are regularly held. The Tchaikovsky House Museum is the hallmark of the Udmurt Republic.
Glazov
Sights of Udmurtia sometimes include entire cities. A vivid example of this is the city of Glazov, with the origin of the name of which a very entertaining story is connected. When Empress Catherine the Great considered the plan of the future settlement on the drawing, she mentioned that it reminds her of an all-seeing eye looking into the human heart. That's how such an amazing name appeared. Well, the sights of Glazov (Udmurtia) are inextricably linked with the history of the city.
The historic center of the village, from which seven streets diverge, is considered an official object, which is included in the list of attractions. The Glazov Museum of Local Lore is located on Kirova Street. And not far from one of the office centers there is an interesting monument to the janitor. No less fascinating is the monument to Pavlik Morozov.
Crocodile Gena, dumpling and Kalashnikov in Izhevsk
Sights of Udmurtia, museums, monuments in particular, are of extraordinary interest for tourists. First of all, you need to visit the museum complex. Kalashnikov. There is a continuous exhibition that tells about the life and work of the famous designer. Exhibitions of memorable dates in the history of Izhevsk, ancient weapons are often arranged here.
The most famous in Udmurtia is the crocodile monument erected in Izhevsk. Its opening took place in 2005. The crocodile sitting majestically on a bench, dressed in a top hat and bow tie, immediately liked the loc alto the population and guests of the city.

Sights of Udmurtia include more than 400 monuments of architectural heritage. Each of them and everything as a whole is protected by the state. Among these objects there are a large number of churches dating from the end of the 18th - beginning of the 20th century. The most amazing of them can be called the Trinity Church, St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, a mosque.
And the Ludorvay Architectural Museum-Reserve should be mentioned as a special item. It houses an old windmill from the century before last and a manor that dates back to the beginning of the last century. This is an active landmark among its kind. In it you can find a bath "in a black way", a barn, a pagan sanctuary and barns.
