History of the embankment

In the 16th century, the Aluston fortress was erected by the Genoese on the site of modern Alushta. Initially, the city, which was called Lusta, began to grow around Aluston. At that time there was a pier on the site of the modern embankment. Gradually, Lusta gained great commercial importance.

After the conquest of the Crimea by the Turks, Alushta ceased to be a trading city and turned into a small settlement on the ruins of the Genoese fortress. During the Crimean War, Turkish troops landed here, and a serious battle took place on the territory of the settlement. It was in it that the future Field Marshal M. Kutuzov was wounded.

Until the end of the 19th century, there was no need to talk about the existence of the Alushta embankment. She was rebuilding for a long time.

Alushta embankment especially changed during the years of the New Economic Policy. Numerous shops and trading shops, as well as car service offices were located here.

A devastating storm that occurred in the winter at the end of 1940 had a great influence on the appearance of the embankment. And for two and a half years of occupation, this territory was completely empty. Only after the liberation of Alushta in 1944 did people actively begin to restore their native city. In 1954, the famous rotunda was installed on the embankment, which is currently the hallmark of Alushta. During construction andN. D. made a great contribution to the design of the embankment. Stakheev, Russian merchant and philanthropist.

In 1969, a large stretch of waterfront was again hit by a storm. At the same time, bank protection structures began to be built here. Particularly during storms, part of the waterfront of the Workers' (now Professor's) Corner continued to suffer. A storm in 2012 that destroyed the site prompted its reconstruction as a 110th anniversary gift to the city.

Modernity

Currently, the Alushta embankment consists of three parts: central, eastern and western. The central part is a place where there are always a lot of tourists. It is in this part that the Rotunda is located. Nearby is the Seaside Park. The western part is called the Professor's Corner. Now it is the newest section of the embankment with beautiful buildings, completely restored. Here are the best beaches. New buildings continue to be built in this area, thanks to which modern Alushta is being transformed.

Eastern embankment goes east from the central one. By the 111th birthday of Alushta, this part was reconstructed after 30 years of complete stagnation. The peculiarity of the city is that on its outskirts it is very quiet and calm, and as you approach the sea, more and more revival begins. Such is modern Alushta. Naberezhnaya Street is always crowded with tourists' cars, so parking here is quite difficult. Sometimes visitors have to leave their cars in the professor's corner, but this is just an excuse to stroll along the entire embankment and enjoy its beauty.

Sea(Alushta)

Most tourists go to the South Coast for the sake of seaside holidays. Alushta is no exception. There are wide pebble beaches, some of which are reserved for boarding houses. There are also free beaches. The sea here is very clean. The bottom is flat, there are beaches where the depth increases gradually, where you can have a good rest with children. The bottom of the sea is rocky, mostly covered with pebbles.
