In Primorsky Krai there are at least two bays of Telyakovsky, two capes named after him, the Telyakovka river in the Khasansky district and a village. Who is this Telyakovsky? Primorsky Krai received many names during the first mapping, made in 1862-1863 during the expedition of V. M. Babkin, or during the hydrographic work carried out in these places in 1891-1894. The expedition was led by Lieutenant P. A. Mikhelson. And Lieutenant Alexander Alexandrovich Telyakovsky (1869-1896) was a member of the topographic survey unit in the party of Lieutenant of the Naval Navigator Corps Mikhelson.
Named after discoverers
Gamow Peninsula, on the eastern part of which the Telyakovsky Bay is located, got its name in honor of D. I. This expedition is described in detail in the work of the same name by I. A. Goncharov, who took part in the expedition of the frigate Pallada, sent on a diplomatic mission to Japan in 1852-1855.
Then the ship proceeded to the Russian shores, opening alongway bays, capes, islands. The names of the expedition members who somehow proved themselves in the description of this or that object were assigned to it. This is about the handsome peninsula, the main pearl of which, and of the entire Primorye as a whole, is the Telyakovsky Bay.
Rocky and impregnable
She, described in detail in the 90s of the XIX century, is located between two capes - Gamov and Telyakovsky. A medium-sized bay has a rather large depth - 38 meters. The water in it is so clean that you can see the bottom from the coastal hills. The bay, deepening into the eastern part of the Gamow Peninsula, has mostly rocky and steep shores, at the foot of which fragments of rocks and boulders are scattered. And towards the top of the peninsula there is a depression between the hills of Mount Tumannaya, the slopes of which are cut by ravines. Three streams running along them flow into the bay. The Telyakovka river flows into the northeastern part of the bay.
Deep, but mooring possible
Telyakovsky Bay is protected from winds by two capes and does not freeze in winter, although drifting ice comes here. This happens mainly from January to March. The bottom of the bay is sand and stone. There are two small rocky islands in the bay: one on the northern side, the other on the southwestern side.
Near the shores of the bay, the sea is deeper than in the center, and therefore the anchorages are located here, at a depth of 25 meters, and the ground here is sandy. Can small boats moor closer to the shore? at the top of the bay, where the depth is 10-12 meters.
Homeattraction
Khasansky District occupies part of the Gamow Peninsula, and the Telyakovsky Bay, which forms its coastline, is also part of it. The main attraction of the beauty of the bay is the Island of the Languishing Heart. The title is more than exciting. It should be noted that this bay is the southernmost of those belonging to the Far Eastern Marine Reserve, or rather, one part of it belongs to the FESCO, where there is no entrance for tourists, and the other is open to the public. Fortunately for romantic visitors, the place of pilgrimage, Languishing Heart Island, is not located in the reserve. The island is small, no more than a hundred meters in length, and coastal - only 30 meters separate it from the western part of the land.
A corner that takes the soul away
Shallow strait that can be forded. The only trouble awaiting romantics is black sea urchins, the spines of which, breaking off, remain in the skin and can cause the formation of purulent wounds. You just have to be careful or drive up to the island by boat from the sea. The goal of the pilgrims is on the eastern slope, the furthest from the shore. In a small natural recess, a stone resembling a heart has been resting for 100 years.
Moreover, according to those who have been there, it is covered with many veins. Heart, and only. During high tides, this natural attraction makes sounds similar to heartbeats. There is a belief that by touching it, you can revive a faded love or guaranteedmeet a new one. This island from afar resembles Bonaparte's headdress and therefore has another, less romantic name - Napoleon's Cap. This wonderful piece of land is famous for its thickets of wild rose hips and a relict grove of grave pines, which grow only on the Gamow Peninsula.
Local endemics
Telyakovsky Bay (Primorsky Territory) attracts tourists with precisely these pine trees, which are listed in the Red Book. In addition, it is believed that they have miraculous healing powers: if you hug the trunk and stand for so little, all bad things leave the soul, and it is filled with goodness.
Diseases go with evil. This plant is a variety of Manchurian relic pine. According to legend, it was this tree that was planted on the grave of the deceased warrior, and it absorbed the strength and nobility of the hero. A very beautiful legend. Other names for this endemic (inherent only in this place) are funerary and many-flowered. In late spring and early summer, when the large white and pink flowers of the Schlippenbach and spiky rhododendron bloom and carpet the slopes of the mountains, the bay resembles a fairy tale.
First victim
Telyakovsky Bay (Primorsky Territory) was widely known to the inhabitants of this region only. She attracted with the extraordinary beauty of the surrounding places, silence and clear sea. But in August 2011, she notoriously became famous outside of Primorye. It is in this month that the water in the bay warms up the most and sharks come here. It wasn't for anyonea secret, but predators, 4 species of which live here permanently, have never touched people. On August 17, a man-eating shark attacked a 25-year-old man (Denis Udovenko), a resident of Vladivostok, who came here to relax. At the hospital, both arms were amputated, and his legs and torso were also injured.
There are more dangers
Several trawlers went out to look for the cannibal, fearing that the shark would return to the site of the first attack. Therefore, the Telyakovsky bay was especially protected. The shark repeated the attack on August 18, but much to the north, in the area of Zheltukhin Island. Here, a 16-year-old boy was seriously injured in the lower extremities.
In Primorye, there are several species of sharks that live here permanently, and in summer up to 12 species of these predators swim here for migratory schools of fish, among them such killers as mako and white shark. As a result of hunting in August, the services of the Ministry of Emergency Situations caught two two-meter fish with bottom nets.
Perhaps you're lucky
Among vacationers, explanatory work is constantly being carried out both about the ban on visiting the reserve, the conditional border of which runs along the territory of Telyakovskogo Bay, and about the danger of swimming and diving. But the carelessness and disobedience of relaxing vacationers are amazing: according to the testimony of security guards and rescuers, they “climb and climb” both into the reserve and into the ocean. And the bottom of the bay is incredibly beautiful. In addition, along the entire coast, at different depths, there are parts of the Vladimir steamer that sank here in 1897 and crashed into Cape Gamow. The bay, which is famous for its unusual aura, was not overshadowed by this disaster, since none of the crew and passengers were injured (the bow of the ship crashed into the shore) and they were all rescued two days later.
Unknown beauty
The pearl of Primorye - Telyakovsky Bay, the photo of which is attached, is really unusually beautiful, and what a pity that this amazing region is located so far not only from the European part of Russia, but also from the Urals.
But there are collections of amazingly beautiful photographs taken by people who are in love with this region. Naturally, for those who heard the name of the bay for the first time, at least in connection with the attack of a man-eating shark, the question arises: where is Telyakovskogo Bay? It was noted above that it is located in the east of the Gamow Peninsula, southern Primorye.
Transport - car only
In the bay itself, only wild recreation with tents is possible, but Vityaz Bay, located on the western coast of the Gamow Peninsula, is a 16-minute drive (5.5 km). Here, as in the village of Andreevka, located on the shores of Troitsa Bay, there are many recreation centers for every taste. The village of Andreevka is connected to Vityaz Bay by a single road. The distance is 10 km, travel time is approximately 30 minutes. There is a road along the western coast of the peninsula. Wild tourists and people resting in these villages are the main visitors to such a gift of nature as Telyakovskogo Bay. How to get to it from nearby settlements? Either by car or by sea.
In the first case, they drive along a dirt road fromthe village of Vityaz, from where, in addition to this, there are three more primers - to the lighthouse (Cape Gamov), to Astafiev Bay, famous for its white sand, and to Cape Schultz. There are no other ways. You can drive a car only up to the coastline, and further along the Telyakovskogo Bay you can only move on foot. It is more comfortable to get by sea, and the views of the coast are incredibly beautiful from this side.
How to get from major Far Eastern cities?
How to get to Telyakovskogo Bay from Vladivostok? From the stop "Fabrika "Zarya"" to Andreevka - 220 km, you have to go through Razdolnoye before turning to Slavyanka. From Vladivostok, by ferry from berth No. 36 to Slavyanka, then to Andreevka. You can take bus number 521, which goes to the center of Andreevka. From Khabarovsk they go to Krasino, after Ussuriysk - to Andreevka. And from this village, as mentioned above, to the village of Vityaz along a road that leaves much to be desired, and then to Telyakovsky Bay. In the villages of Vityaz and Andreevka there are a lot of modern, well-equipped recreation centers that meet all modern requirements.
Telyakovskogo Bay (Primorsky Territory) only hardy lovers of wild and impregnable nature can provide rest: it is difficult to get there and few will agree to live without basic amenities. True, it should be noted that the impressions received in this extraordinary place make the rest unforgettable.
The complete opposite
At the beginning of the article it was stated that there are two bays with this name in Primorsky Krai. Second bayTelyakovsky (Shkotovsky district) is located in the upper part of the Ussuri Bay. The distance from Vladivostok to the village of Shkotovo is 62 km, the travel time is just over an hour. From this village you need to get on a bad road to the former garrison belonging to the abandoned airfield "Pristan". In one of the abandoned five-story buildings, people still live here and there. The impression is not joyful, and the bay located nearby is the complete opposite of the one located in the Khasan region: the beach is dirty, the sea is heavily overgrown with algae. Desolation reigns everywhere.
