Educational History
In 1838 Novorossiysk was founded as a port. It was maritime trade that became the determining factor in the development of the economy of this settlement. At first, there was a single pier made of wood, there were no fixtures. A significant impetus in the development of the port is associated with the completion of the construction of the Novorossiysk-Tikhoretskaya railway connection. The co-founders of the Vladikavkaz railway joined the construction of the port, planning to complete its arrangement by the opening of the station.
At that time, the main processed cargo was grain, which was transported from various parts of Russia. To optimize the transshipment of this raw material, stone and metal barns were built. The workflow was facilitated by the main line with conveyors, drawn from the elevator to the pier. In subsequent years, the Novorossiysk Seaport continued to develop actively, mastering the transshipment of various cargoes, includingand petroleum products.
Soviet times
In 1920 the company was nationalized. Cargoes went through the port for the Volga region, where there was a catastrophic shortage of food at that time. During this period, the company was awarded two Orders of the Red Banner of Labor. Toward the end of the twenties, the cargo turnover increased, up to 400 or more ships passed through the berths. By the forties, the Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port was equipped with four areas for loading and unloading, a coastal line, an import and a cement site.
During the Second World War, the enterprise received significant damage, most of the warehouses and equipment were destroyed. But already in 1944, it was practically restored, after the decision of the State Defense Committee on the resuscitation of the first stage of the Novorossiysk port. Twenty years later, the second wide berth was launched, and in 1978 the construction of Sheskharis, a harbor for reloading oil products, was completed. This structure is surrounded by a breakwater and an oil jetty, the maximum depth near it reaches 14 meters.
Modernity
Novorossiysk Sea Commercial Port after the collapse of the USSR underwent a large-scale reorganization with a focus on market relations.
Public administration, guaranteeing safe working conditions, supervision over the implementation of laws and regulations is carried out by a federal institution called the Novorossiysk Seaport Administration. More than 80 economic entities operate in the territoryorganizations.
Production activities are carried out by the Novorossiysk Sea Port Group, which includes the following enterprises:
