Educational History

In 1838 Novorossiysk was founded as a port. It was maritime trade that became the determining factor in the development of the economy of this settlement. At first, there was a single pier made of wood, there were no fixtures. A significant impetus in the development of the port is associated with the completion of the construction of the Novorossiysk-Tikhoretskaya railway connection. The co-founders of the Vladikavkaz railway joined the construction of the port, planning to complete its arrangement by the opening of the station.

Soviet times

In 1920 the company was nationalized. Cargoes went through the port for the Volga region, where there was a catastrophic shortage of food at that time. By the forties, the Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port was equipped with four areas for loading and unloading, a coastal line, an import and a cement site.

But already in 1944, it was practically restored, after the decision of the State Defense Committee on the resuscitation of the first stage of the Novorossiysk port. Twenty years later, the second wide berth was launched, and in 1978 the construction of Sheskharis, a harbor for reloading oil products, was completed. This structure is surrounded by a breakwater and an oil jetty, the maximum depth near it reaches 14 meters.
