December 30, 1972 on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary ofthe creation of the USSR, this monument was erected. The architects chosen for it were V. Sokolov and V. Afanasiev. A twelve-meter blossoming flower with a bud made from the flags of the republics of the Soviet Union. At the base is a line from the anthem: “The Union of the Indestructible Republics of the Free.”
