Moscow station "Krasnopresnenskaya" is a subway located on the fifth ring line of the metropolitan metro in the Presnensky district of the Central district of the city. It is popular with Muscovites, while at the same time remaining well known to guests of the capital. What is the reason for this demand? What attracts so many passengers here every day?
Krasnopresnenskaya. Underground. General description of the station
This interchange is located between the Kyiv and Belorusskaya stops and has two exits: to Krasnaya Presnya and Konyushkovskaya streets, as well as a transition to the Barrikadnaya station.
According to the type of construction art. Krasnopresnenskaya metro station refers to three-vaulted pylon structures of deep laying, the depth of which is 35.5 meters. The pylon cornice and track walls are lined with light-colored marble slabs, and dark red granite was used for the lower part of the columns. Platform surface laid outred, black and gray granite.
The architectural and artistic design of the metro station is dedicated to the revolutionary theme of 1905-1917. The central ceiling of the arch is decorated with 14 bas-relief images. Eight of them relate to the historical events of 1905, and six to the October Revolution of 1917. Above the pylons from the side of the platform are bas-reliefs with the dates "1905-1917". The ground vestibule of the station was built in the form of a rotunda. At the entrance to the metro there is a sculpture called "Druzhinnik", the author of which is Alexei Zelensky. The installation of the sculpture was completed in 1955.

The opening of the station on the Circle Line took place in 1954. It was part of the section "Belorusskaya" - "Park Kultury" and was the last one in the ring. The first section of the branch began to function in 1950. The authors of the typical subway project are architects V. S. Egerev, F. A. Novikov, I. A. Pokrovsky and M. P. Konstantinov.
Karo Alabyan and T. A. Ilyina, together with V. I. Aleshina and T. D. Zebrikova, worked on the ground lobby project.
The metro station got its name in honor of the street. Krasnaya Presnya. During its existence, Krasnopresnenskaya has never been renamed. At the end of 1972, a transition to the Barrikadnaya metro stop was opened at the station. Before the crossing was opened, there were sculptures of Lenin and Stalin here. All stations on the Koltsevaya line, built in Stalin's times, were decorated in a specific theme related toto the life of the Soviet people. For example, "Serpukhovskaya" was dedicated to the greatness of Russian architecture, and "Belorusskaya" - to the people of the Belarusian Republic, as well as "Krasnopresnenskaya" - to the revolutions of 1905-1917.

It should be noted that such lines resembling a ring do not exist in any subway of the former Soviet Union. Once again, Moscow surprises us. The Krasnopresnenskaya metro station is another confirmation of this. Why? The fact is that today it connects almost all metro lines of the capital (with the exception of Butovskaya and Kakhovskaya) and many railway stations.
Marble, which is almost 300 million years old, was used to decorate the columns of the station. In it you can see the fossilized traces of the most ancient organisms that lived on earth in the distant past.
Near the entrance to the metro is the world-famous Moscow Zoo. The subway opens from 5.35 am and runs until 1 am.
