The city of Strezhevoy is located in the north-west of the Tomsk region and is part of the Aleksandrovsky district. It is located near the right tributary of the majestic Ob River. Strezhevoy is a rather young city, it recently turned only 45 years old. The nearest railway station from this settlement is Nizhnevartovsk (68 km). The name of the settlement comes from the Russian word "string", which means a steep bank, a rapid, a channel, a channel, a rapid. It is worth noting that during the construction of the city, it was proposed to name it differently - Neftegrad. However, the authorities decided that Strezhevoy sounds much more interesting, and there are already quite a lot of cities with the prefix "oil", so they settled on this more original and melodic name. Despite the fact that Strezhevoy belongs to the Tomsk region, he is still closer to the Khanty-Mansiysk district. There are practically no high-rise buildings in the city. Strezhevoy (Tomsk region) is a city where oil workers work in the Tomskneft company, owned on a parity basis by the Gazprom Neft and Rosneft concerns. Previously, Tomskneft was the property of Yukos. The oil and gas production center of the Sovetsko-Sosninskoye field is also located here. The city of Strezhevoy (Tomsk region) supplies oil products to the neighboring region of Kuzbass. A small oil refinery operates in the village.

Every year in March, the Sovremennik Palace hosts a concert called On the Wave of the City. Strezhevoy (Tomsk region) can offer good fun to the smallest in the children's entertainment centers "Broadway", "Planet", "Oscar" and "Develop!".
