Every day, thousands of people travel from Bryansk to Moscow and back. Most go to work or study, some go shopping or for tourism purposes. The distance from Moscow to Bryansk can be overcome by car, bus, train or plane. The most popular means of transportation in this direction is a car.

The distance from Moscow to Bryansk is 391 km. Of these, 350 km falls on the federal highway M-3 Ukraine. This is the shortest route from Bryansk to Moscow. To overcome it by car, it will take from four to six hours. Travel time depends on traffic speed and traffic congestion. There are few cars at night, so you can cover the distance from Moscow to Bryansk in 4-4.5 hours. However, driving at night is difficult for most drivers. Travel time may increase due to Moscow traffic jams. It is not recommended to schedule a departure from the city during rush hour.
Route M-3 Ukraine
Most of the way from Moscow toBryansk by car passes through the federal highway M-3. It starts from the intersection of the Moscow Ring Road with Leninsky Prospekt, and ends at the border with Ukraine. The road passes through flat terrain through forests, fields and settlements. Overcoming the distance from Moscow to Bryansk along the M-3 highway, the car crosses the Moscow, Kaluga and Bryansk regions. There are many gas stations, cafes and eateries along the way. According to the statistics of the Ministry of Transport of Russia, the M-3 highway is only tenth in terms of congestion in the Russian Federation.
Toll sections of the M-3 highway
From 2015 to 2017, large-scale repair work was carried out on the federal highway M-3. As a result of the reconstruction, the quality of the roadway has improved markedly. There were paid sections of the route. The fare depends on the category of transport and time of day.
Section 124-150 km:
- category I (motorcycles and vehicles up to 2 meters high): from 7:00 to 24:00 - 50 rubles; from 0:00 to 7:00 - 25 rubles;
- category II (passenger and cargo vehicles from 2 to 2.6 meters high): from 7:00 to 24:00 - 75 rubles; from 0:00 to 7:00 - 35 rubles;
- category III (passenger and cargo vehicles over 2.6 meters high): from 7:00 to 24:00 - 100 rubles; from 0:00 to 7:00 - 50 rubles;
- category IV (passenger and cargo vehicles with more than 3 axles and a height of more than 2.6 meters): from 7:00 to 24:00 - 180 rubles; from 0:00 to 7:00 - RUB 90
Section 150-194 km:
- category I (motorcycles andvehicles up to 2 meters high): from 7:00 to 24:00 - 80 rubles; from 0:00 to 7:00 - 40 rubles;
- category II (passenger and cargo vehicles from 2 to 2.6 meters high): from 7:00 to 24:00 - 120 rubles; from 0:00 to 7:00 - 60 rubles;
- category III (passenger and cargo vehicles over 2.6 meters high): from 7:00 to 24:00 - 160 rubles; from 0:00 to 7:00 - 80 rubles;
- category IV (passenger and cargo vehicles with more than 3 axles and a height of more than 2.6 meters): from 7:00 to 24:00 - 320 rubles; from 0:00 to 7:00 - RUB 160
Toll road sections are illuminated, have two lanes in each direction. The oncoming flows are separated by metal structures. There are no road junctions at the same level. The speed limit is 110 km/h.
Both toll sections have alternative detour routes on free roads. Each driver decides for himself which route to take. If you move from Moscow, then you can bypass the paid section by leaving the highway for 107 km near the town of Belousovo. If you drive from Bryansk, then to travel on a free road you need to turn to Kaluga at 173 km.
