In the western part of the Krasnodar Territory, the famous Taman Peninsula is located, on which there are more than a hundred different he alth facilities, well known not only in our country, but also far beyond its borders.

Taman, whose sights annually attract many tourists, is a truly unique region with a rich history and amazing nature. Here you can easily swim in two seas in one day, since the Taman Peninsula is washed by the waters of two seas - the Black and Azov. The coastline here is notable for its indentation, the presence of many bays, estuaries, and spits. The delta of the Kuban River had a significant impact on the formation of the modern appearance of the peninsula. The coast of Taman is mostly steep, consisting of shell rock and limestone rocks.

The Black Sea beaches of Taman are rocky, pebbly and sandy beaches with unusually clear water, where in the morning you can easily meet dolphins going hunting. And the shallow shell beaches of the Sea of Azovperfect for families with children.

And yet the main thing is what Taman is famous for. Attractions, natural and historical, are literally at every step. Each grain of sand contains echoes of history, and if the stones could speak, they would tell us a lot of interesting things.

So, what is a map of Taman with sights? What is a must-see for those who decide to spend their holidays on this amazing peninsula?

Which of us has not heard the word "Tmutarakan"? So, this is right here. People began to settle in these places as early as the 6th century BC. Germonassa, Samkerts, Tamatarkha, Matarkha, Matrika, Matrega, Taman, Tmutarakan - this is how this city was called at different times and among different peoples. Various artifacts are still found on its territory. In the museum, located in the village of Taman, you can see a collection of exhibits that tell about this amazing city.

The Turkish Fountain (also called Turkish Wells) is an amazing hydraulic structure that has existed from the 15th century to the present. Looking more like a small house than a fountain, it is unique in that it was built in an area where there have always been difficulties with fresh water, and therefore it is a condensation source, the device of which is still a mystery.

Also in Taman is the house-museum of M. Yu. Lermontov. Of course, the house in which he stayed was notpreserved, but the museum, recreated according to the notes of contemporaries, accurately conveys the spirit of those times. Whitewashed walls, small rooms, household items - everything is like in the time of the great poet.

Taman is famous for the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos. According to legend, the bells of this temple were cast from the tools of the Zaporizhzhya Cossacks, who were the first Russian citizens who arrived to settle in Taman. The regimental banner of the Cossacks and timpani were kept here, with the help of which the Cossacks were summoned to the Rada. The renovated interior of the church exactly repeats the original look.

The nature of this region is also amazing. There are s alt lakes on the peninsula, the bottom of which is covered with healing mud containing hydrogen sulfide, bromine and iodine. But these are not the only mud springs that Taman is famous for. Sights of interest to those who like to improve their he alth are, of course, the famous mud volcanoes. Coming directly from the bowels of the Earth, mud with oil gas bubbles has a beneficial effect on the skin, promotes its rejuvenation.

The famous lotus valley is located in the Akhtanizovsky Estuary. These huge and unusually beautiful flowers in full bloom can reach half a meter in diameter. As for this attraction of Taman, the photo of which cannot leave anyone indifferent, in reality everything is much more beautiful and romantic. According to the existing belief, who breathed in the unique and mysterious aroma of this flower, one has to become wiser. And if you whisper a cherished desire to an unblown bud, they will certainly come true. The best thingvisit the lotus valley in July-August (or early September), when the season of their flowering comes.

It is impossible not to mention the fact that during the Great Patriotic War, the most fierce bloody battles took place on Taman. Literally every square meter here is watered with the blood of Soviet soldiers who died for the liberation of their native land, as evidenced by numerous military monuments and obelisks.
