This makes it possible to preserve the pristine nature.

Short description

Lake Kshhara (Vladimir region) is a reservoir of karst origin. It was formed at the site of a break in the earth's crust. It is characterized by steep steep banks, a funnel-shaped bottom, and a very great depth. The water surface area is 1.32 sq. km. The length of the coast is 8 km. According to official data, the depth in Kshara is 65-75 m, however, local fishermen took their own measurements, providing half the figures.less than stated. This may indicate that there are a lot of holes and craters in the lake.

The coastline is winding, there are separate stretches. The water is crystal clear, the transparency is up to 4 m. The coast is poorly developed, it is characterized by a sharp slope. A dense pine forest grows on the banks. According to local residents, the water in Kshara has healing properties and is well mineralized, but there is no official confirmation of this information.

Hydronym

The Sanskrit word ksara literally translates as "melting water". Due to the peculiarity of the coastline, the lake is compared to a flower that has opened its petals. The caves located near the reservoir have become the cause of the origin of many local legends. According to one of them, Koschey lived in these places in ancient times. It was he who owned all the adjacent territories near the lake. Therefore, the reservoir received such a consonant name - Kshara.

Plant and animal life

Lake Kshara has a huge variety of flora and fauna. In the reservoir itself there are a lot of different fish. These are pike, burbot, silver carp, perch, tench, etc. An indicator of water purity is crayfish. After all, they cannot live in dirty ponds with stagnant water.

This lake is also unique in that the forests that grow on its shores are inhabited by the rarest species of birds - the black-throated loon. Some time ago, rare plants could be found in this area, in particular, the bristly half-grass. As of today, it has completely disappeared.

Peacebirds here are also quite diverse. On the water surface of the lake you can meet gray cranes, geese, ducks, herons. Woodpeckers, capercaillie, black grouse live in large numbers in coastal forests.

Local legend about the lake

Lake Kshara is unique in its kind. And this, in turn, leads to the emergence of different legends. The most popular is about a floating island, which is supposedly located in a reservoir. The legend says the following: in ancient times there was a village with a church on the shore. As a result of enemy aggression and the unwillingness of the local population to submit to the enemy, the peninsula was disconnected from the coastline. Despite the spectacle of the legend, there is no plausible information in it, when viewed from a scientific point of view. Information about the peninsula is half true. After all, over time it turned into an island. However, this is not due to mystical influence, but to a significant rise in the water level.

Recreation and fishing

Not the most popular holiday destination is Lake Kshhara (Vladimir region). Fishing is great here. However, this is not surprising, because the territory of the reservoir is located in the reserve. Thanks to the dense pine forest and rich fauna, lovers of hunting come to these places. The fishing and hunting farm "Kshara" was specially equipped for them. Any manipulations on the local territory can be carried out only with the permission of the administration. Fishing and hunting are possible only after purchasing permits.

There are several rules that must be followed. BeforeFirst of all, it is not allowed to kindle fires. However, this is not surprising, since the forest is pine, and, as you know, the wood of this species is very dry and can quickly ignite. Fishing on Lake Kshara on motorboats is strictly prohibited. There are a lot of fish in the reservoirs, so only rowing is allowed. And, of course, do not litter the territory.

Fire consequences

In 2010, fires caused significant damage to these places. The forest was the first to be damaged by the fire. However, Lake Kshara, being very close, felt the destructive power of this element. Restoration of the forest belt was not given much attention. At present, self-seeding birches are growing here.

The shoreline of the reservoir is also in a deplorable state. This can be observed for the past 6 years since the fire. Unfortunately, the district administration is not taking any measures to restore it. But if environmentalists were involved, the situation would change in a positive direction. The restoration of the original state of this area would lead to the development of flora and fauna, which would contribute to a significant increase in the flow of tourists. However, such options are not even considered at present.
