Vityazevsky estuary: mud treatment, ecotourism and fishing

Characteristics of the reservoir

This small, shallow, triangular-shaped bay is about sixty-four square kilometers in size and up to two meters deep. The small river Gostagayka flows into it.

Unlike other similar bays, such as Kiziltashsky, Bugaz and Tsokur, which are connected to each other and to the Black Sea, the Vityazevsky Estuary is separated by the Annunciation Ridge. Some sections of its shores are quite steep, therefore, they are convenient places for burrowing by wild animals and nesting of shelducks.

A large number of islets and sandy-shell spits contribute to the arrangement of nests by gulls and waders. And the surrounding agricultural fields createfavorable conditions for fattening waterfowl. Some of them nest here, molt and stay for the winter.

Therapeutic mud

The estuary in Vityazevo is also therapeutic, as it contains mineral mud that is beneficial for the human body. They are often used in Anapa sanatoriums and mud baths in the treatment of various diseases. The bottom of the estuary is made up of silt and mud, which exude an unpleasant odor, but have a huge number of useful properties. Due to their absorbable and anti-inflammatory effect, they are used not only for the skin, but also for the joints. However, it should be remembered that not everyone can be treated with these muds. Therefore, in order not to harm your body when planning a vacation in these places, it is best to consult a doctor.

The reason for the appearance of therapeutic mud is in the waters of the Gostagayka River, which carry fine clay that settles in the eastern part of its mouth. The thickness of the layer of silt at the bottom of the bay is from twenty to sixty centimeters.

Ecotourism

Due to its wonderful properties, Vityazevsky Estuary is an excellent place for eco-tourism and he alth improvement. Near it is the resort village of Vityazevo, located in the southwestern part of the Taman Peninsula, only twenty kilometers from Anapa. Some time ago, the estuary was a sea bay in the delta of the ancient Kuban, and today it is an endorheic reservoir in the shape of a triangle. Gostagayka remains the main freshwater dwelling for him, but not the only water resource. In addition to it, the estuary is replenished with atmospheric precipitation and the waters of the Black Sea. The latter, before entering the bay, pass through a kind of filter in the form of an embankment.

It should be noted that lovers of ecological tourism, especially birding, often visit Vityazevsky Estuary. Photos and videos that testify to the wonderful vacation spent here are a clear confirmation of this.

Although the coast of the estuary is not as spacious as the sea, it has its own natural charm, which attracts large flocks of birds. Therefore, pelicans, gulls, herons and cormorants are often found on the shell-and-sand coast.

All summer months and September, the doors of bases and rest houses, such as "Elite", "Chaika", "Stroitel", "Slava" and others, are open for visitors in the village. In addition, the private sector settles guests, trying to provide maximum comfort at reasonable prices.

Fishing on the estuary

Vityazevsky estuary is an excellent vacation spot also for those who like to go fishing. Fishing in this area will bring a lot of pleasure and unforgettable impressions. For this purpose, you can even rent a boat or a boat, but this option is not the cheapest.

Fish in the bay is found in sufficient quantities. But when choosing gear, you need to take into account that perch, carp, carp, bream, rudd, crucian carp, pike and others live here. For bait, it is better to use worms, maggots, makuha or corn.

You can also visit the trout farm to look at the Vityazevsky Estuary from a different angle. Fishing here is organized at the highest level. And if you wish, you can cook delicious dishes from the caught catch in the cafe located on the territory of the farm.
