Shuiskaya, better known as Chuiskaya, steppe is the northernmost valley of Kyrgyzstan. Most of the inhabitants know it in its most unattractive quality - namely, as the largest base of vegetable narcotic raw materials. Indeed, the Chui Valley (photo) is a kind of Mecca for drug dealers and lovers of the "light" drug - cannabis. Every year, dozens of hectares of this plant dope are destroyed in its open spaces. It would be wrong to say, like the authorities of the former USSR, that this territory is free from drugs and hemp plantations cannot be found here. However, the Chui Valley attracts not only adherents of addictions.
Located in one of the most picturesque places in Kyrgyzstan, this amazingly beautiful corner of nature is popular with fans of hang gliding and car tourism.
Features
The Chui Valley is located in the area of the dangerous but incredibly beautiful Kordai Pass. Huge, more than 140 thousand hectares, the territory of this place includes four most picturesque natural areas. Moving around the territory, you can see with your own eyes the magnificence of the steppe (valley), foothill, mountain and high-mountain zone.
The Chui Valley is distinguished by rather sharp temperature changes, typical for the steppe regions, breathtaking landscapes of majestic mountains. In the spring, its boundless expanses are literally “flooded” with bright crimson poppies, but for the most part, the spaces of the steppe territories are rather monotonous.
Travelers
For lovers of mountain climbing, of course, the so-called Chui squirrels will seem attractive. This is the name given to the North and South Chuisky passes. The average height of the ridges in this area exceeds 3500 meters.
The Chui Valley is always popular with hang gliders. The most popular launches (starting points of the flight): Thousand, Zhalamysh, Chon-Tash. The height of the lowest start is 1270 meters (Zhalamysh), the highest is a little less than 2300 meters (Thousand). Due to the length and landscape features of these places, fans of extreme entertainment get the opportunity to make dizzying flights from April to September, the length of which can be several tens of kilometers.
Road routes keep up with more exotic forms of tourism. A trip along the Chuisky tract is a route that can impress even very reserved travelers. The most popular route is a trip along the highway from Biysk to the border with Mongolia. More than half of this distancelies on the territory of Chuya, which allows you to fully appreciate the local, completely unique flavor.
Throughout the road, travelers will come across settlements of local residents, small cafes that serve national cuisine. Near numerous streams and rivers, comfortable places for parking and rest are equipped, which makes the trip more enjoyable. The inquisitive eye discovers the incredible beauty of landscapes that can only be found in this region.
